Convincing the wife to get a Note 4

LOL @ reading these posts! It reminds me of me and the wife......Here's my story....

My wife started with a dumb phone and loved it (she's not a techy but not stupid about tech either). I talked her into getting a smartphone and at that time, the HTC Evo was the rage and got her one. She used it till it gave out and traded up for a Galaxy S4. Well, for some reason, it started acting weird about a month ago so I said well, you have an upgrade let's get you a new phone and she agreed. I had already bought an iPhone 6 for my son (I'm using it till the note 4 comes in) and I let her use it for a minute and this was her response.....

"Wow, it's little and light!" ....a few minutes later..."WTF? I can't place folders down near the bottom? Where's the widgets? How do I get out of an app without hitting the home button? So there's no back button? My god....this phone is for the tech deprived. I want a new phone but not this!"

So I ended up getting her the HTC E8 in white and she loves it.

My wife has had a iphone 4s for the last 3 years but she's willing to make the jump to the note 4. But she's concerned that the note 4 will be overwhelming after I showed her all the features of the note 4. She had a DROID eris before the iphone so she's still skeptical about the Android os. Just curious if anyone here has had a similar situation with a friend or a loved one. Should I just let her get the iphone 6 plus.

There's a lot of tricks to android, not to mention all the hand waving, and air gestures that come with a Samsung device.

It may be best for her to stick to the OS she knows than having to teach her how to set up a widget and a launcher and all that stuff.

What does she want? Is she just looking for a larger screen or does she want to get more out of her phone?

The sad part is my wife knows that the note 4 is the better device but there are a few apple only apps that she feels she absolutely needs.

She'll get over that, there were some android only apps that I needed but I was able to make do when I switched.

Her main reason for considering the switch is the camera

So, I have a question...
I bought my wife a Note2 when they came out because she was learning to hate her Blackberry and wanted a bigger screen.
I've broached the subject of a new Note4, but she says she's happy with her current one.
She is a bit of a 'gadgetholic' and likes shiny things!

For those who have tried both, do you think she would appreciate the 4 as a surprise stocking stuffer?
I know that's almost 3 months off, but it will make it easier to sneak the $$$ out of my discretionary budget without her noticing. (no upgrade, we own our phones outright)

Is it enough better that it would really be a step up for her?
I guess this is a bit the opposite of the thread title, but where better to ask the question???

My advice.....if she is happy with her current note 2, then save the upgrade until she asks for an upgrade. Your money would be better spent on some shiny new jewelry things as a stocking stuffer.

Yes,great idea! If she doesn`t like it you can keep it for yourself...win/win ;)

I think this is so Sweet and Thoughtful! I actually still use a Note 2 and can understand why she says she still likes it. I still Love mine and to date is the Best phone I have ever owned! But with that said, I did already skip the Note 3, and I don't want to get to many models behind so I will be getting the Note 4. best of luck to you in your decision!

Have you tried it?
The screen is supposed to be AWESOME!
She likes to watch movies on her Note2...
I haven't made it to BestBuy yet. I have been analyzing and agonizing the decision over my next phone for several months now. The Note 4 won. I appreciate solid hardware.

If she's watching movies on the Note 2, I'd put money on her loving the Note 4. It's a thoughtful and fun gift.
