Corporate calendar sync, events missing

I am having a general problem with calendar sync on my Fascinate so I figured I would start here. Searching the forums hasn't gotten me far and I cant find any good docs on how to set up the phone past the initial "heres how your gmail works".

I added a corporate email account (OWA via public web site, from exchange server 2007) and the email push works great. The calendar appeared to work great but I have noticed some of the events on my outlook calendar are missing from the handheld calendar. Events I am invited to seem to be the most trouble, even though i have accepted the invitation and the event is shown as "busy" on my calendar. Events I add myself show up right away on the phone. What gives?

Hey Joe,

Same problem I had when I first synced my email to the phone. From what I've heard from other Android users on the phone, it seems to be a common occurence. One Android user suggested the app called Touchdown - seems to integrate Exchange nicely. As for myself, I've only identified a handful of missed entries and since they are one offs, I'm not too concerned as you mentioned new entries sync just fine.

This is doing it with some new items and some old items... The problem is that I really use the calendar events to organize meetings and having it on my phone vs on my PC is really really helpful. I will check out Touchdown but needing another "fix" for a builtin phone function is pretty frustrating. My blackberry is looking better and better.

After playing with it, rebooting the phone doesnt seem to help nor does tweaking the events as they sit on the calendar. I can get them to appear if I save the event out of outlook, delete it from the calendar, and then re-accept it and add it back into the calendar. I will have to start paying attention to events as they go in and see if i can find a connection between the first time i accept it and whether or not it shows up on the phone calendar.

Joe,

I hear what you're saying... You would think that out of the box functionality should work. Other tip I heard was to remove your email account and re-add it to see if the calendar appts come back through. Good luck...

Help

I am having a similar problem. The sync between Outlook and my Captivate works fine. However, when I enter calendar events my Captivate, it is not syncing them with Outlook. Oddly, when I enter a new contact on the handheld it does sync with Outlook, but a new calendar item does not. Does anyone know how I fix this? Is the fact I am syncing both my Outlook contacts and calendar and my Gmail contacts and calendar a problem? Thanks in advance ofr any help.

Are you adding new events to the phone calendar or the outlook calendar? For some reason even if you establish a default calendar it will still try to put your new event just into the phone calendar (where it wont get synced with anything) unless when creating the event you select the outlook account you want it to show up in.

It's a issue with the way samsung has it's default calendar set. Even if you have exchange as default , when making a new calendar item from the samsung, you have to select from the Calendar drop down list for the entry to go to exchange account.Otherwise, your entry will land in the"My calendar"default in the phone.

It's a major issue with us Exchange users.i have lodged complaints and requests with Sprint and samsung.we all need to do and just hope when Froyo comes, samsung will add this fix.

Every Android user at each of my sites has had to use one of the three popular Exchange sync products for reliable messaging. That has been the case since the first Android phone showed up.

I don't believe this thread is about messages-it's about calendar sync issue.

Myself and a couple other people I know were having the same problem. What I noticed is that the missing events were also not showing up in OWA either, so it's not a phone issue. I notified the mail admins and they're looking into it. I heard mention of a hotfix from MS. We are Exchange 2003, and I have the same missing events in both the default client and Touchdown.

Interesting, I didn't even think to check in the owa interface only because I pretty much never use it anymore thanks to my phone. If it happens again I will have to check that out.

I think I finally got to the bottom of this. Calendar events that get entered from a group invitation, and don't contain any set reminder time, get ignored by the android sync routine. I have tested this twice now and found that the only difference between the events that get synced normally and those that get ignored is the reminder time (for me it defaults to 15 minutes but certain individuals refrain from using one, their events are always missing.) If I force the invitation to have a reminder before saving it, it will appear normally. If I attempt to edit the invitation after it's been put onto my calendar, it will still get ignored.

I will keep looking for an explanation to this from Google, but in the meantime I wanted to share that with anyone else who might be seeing strange behavior with their corporate calendars.
