Corrupt Nexus 5x causing constant shut down?

So I've had my Nexus 5x for about three weeks now and it somehow already caught a virus or something. The problem started about a week ago when I was using my phone and it suddenly froze and shut down. It took about five minutes to boot back up and when it did, it said that the device was corrupted. I wanted to back up my files before I did a factory reset, so I waited and it seemed to work fine for the next hour, then it shut down while I was using it again. This continued for the rest of the day, it shutting down, me having to start it back up only for it to shut down in the middle of the start-up sequence. So I did a factory reset and it worked for a little bit, but then it happened again and I gave up. The only reason that I haven't sent it in is because I got this one as a replacement for my first one that had screen problems, so I don't want them to think I'm doing this on purpose.

I don't yet have the USB-C to USB-A adapter, but when I do get it, I'm going to flash the OS to see if that works, but I honestly have no idea what else to do. Any help I could get would save me a whole lot of trouble with dealing with the company.

Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact message you see when it tells you something is corrupted? Show us a screenshot if possible: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-how-post-screenshots-android-central.html. I'm just wondering if this is a true system message, or if it's a bogus popup from some bit of malware.

Is the device bootloader unlocked or rooted?

I can't get a screenshot at the moment because my phone is completely unresponsive. However, it showed a message on startup that said "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted, and may not work properly." followed by "visit this link on another device" (g.co/ABH). If you go to the link, the image that pops up when you click the third drop down menu is the one that was displayed. Also, to add insult to injury, I can't even get to the menu that allows you to boot into safe mode, so my phone is officially down as far as I know.

The bootloader was locked last time I checked, which was right after the problem started.

If you can't even get to safe mode, you likely have to FDR via the Recovery menu.

Wow, that sounds bad.:-\ I'm guessing you won't be able to do this, but will suggest it anyway--see if you can manually reinstall the factory image. How to manually update your Nexus | Android Central. But it sounds like you wouldn't be able to enable USB debugging or get to the Recovery Menu.

I called Google and they transferred me over to LG, so I'm sending it in to the repair shop to see if they can't fix it. If they can't, they've said that they would replace it.

I have a brand new out of the box doing this. We managed to get it up and running for about a half hour. It's being sent back to Amazon for a replacement. LG said they would fix it, but I didn't feel that was right since I just bought it and couldn't even use it. Good luck with yours

When I woke up in the morning, my phone wouldn't connect to the wifi so I restarted my phone and then I had the same message, that the device is corruped and cant be trusted and I should follow the link g.co/abh on another device.

There it said I should flash my phone etc etc, but the thing is I have no idea about those things nor do I trust myself enough to do them.
Being me I just did the factory reset. When the phone restarted the message, that the device couldn't be trusted, didn't come up again. So is my phone fixed again and the message wasn't real or sth else?
I'm really clueless about all this stuff and have no idea how it can happen. I did notice though that my phone restarted itself two days ago, but didn't think anything of it.

I'm thankful for any help

I've never heard of where when your phone is corrupted you are directed to a link for answers....except when it is MALWARE.

Most likely your EMMC memory is starting to fail. From the standpoint of the bootloader, failing EMMC that is still readable looks the same as if you modified your OS. Sometimes when the tech is not experienced, they send your phone back saying you broke it trying to root or install custom ROM. Hopefully LG just replaces the motherboard and sends your phone back. There have been quite a few of these EMMC failures from people who never rooted or even unlocked the bootloader.

My 5X failed and started bootlooping. Google blew me off and sent me to LG. LG repaired it for free saying they replaced the "main board".
