CosmicExperia 3.5 Files

Yeah If you are already running on the new baseband this ROM is not for you. I am still running the old .32 kernel and aside from that damn black screen issue (which is better if you use a live wallpaper but not fixed) everything works great. I am still holding out some hope of getting things going on a new kernel so that I can run the latest Cyanogenmod stuff. But im really thinking about trying out the stock ROM.

As requested by Soundemonchan I have gathered up all the files for the CosmicExperia and here they are.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS IF YOU HAVE UPGRADED TO GINGERBREAD FROM LG IT SEEMS TO BRICK THE PHONE IF YOUR ON THE NEW BASEBAND

You will need to install them in the order listed or the phone will have kittens. Also you must do a factory wipe and clear all the caches from inside of CWM in most cases. This ROM is a .32 kernel using the old baseband. It will also have and ICS looking theme which is pretty nice.

4shared folder - My 4shared

Install them in the following order

CosmIcEXperia_v3.5.zip

Joban-2.08-Kernel.zip

TransformationPack_v1.1.zip

Then reboot and let the phone do its thing. When it finally comes back up to a working phone shut it down and boot into CWM.

ICS Status Bar Patch for v3.5.zip

Reboot again then back into CWM

Gapps1.22.2012.zip (if you want googles stuff like gmail and contacts)

Please note the transformation pack should not be required but it does make the phone look way better.

Ok, man i was doing the installation of the zips wrong... With that being said i had to go all the way to my home screen and reboot every time i installed a zip on my SD card in order for it to work. Thanks for you're help man i appreciate it very much.

It works so well and i am in love with it, but it has the com.android.phone force close popup over and over and OVER!!! It happens randomly, and it fixes itself when i put the phone into airplane mode- P.S. I did not touch 2G/3G at all. So im curious why im getting this, do i need an older sim card or something in order to stop this problem, OR can i easily flash something to fix this problem in the android system?
If anyone could answer this for me that would be great, thanks!

Actually the com.android.phone issues is a pain in the ass. There is a fix for it in the 100+ pages of postings for the Joban kernel goodluck. I got the error once and after wiping something but did the install again and everything works fine. I have noticed the error tends to occurs more readily if you try to use another dialer. There really is no 100% fix for this problem but I can tell you have been using this ROM for well over 2 months now and only had the error start once. It has something to do with the the way android handles the 3g settings thats why you don't see it if you go into airplane mode. My advice is try the install again and hope that we can get a .35 kernel going so we can permanently get away from that problem.

Right on, ya i also noticed when i reboot the phone, or i shut it off and turn it back on the com.android.phone thing goes nuts with force closing. So i have to re-flash the rom and EVERYTHING for it everytime unfortunetly, so i just never let my device die, or shut off- its staying on 24/7. :(
Ya .35 kernal would be great, but do you think there will ever be a kernal to mod the .35 color/screen fix?

Well Joban has decided to leave and take his source code with him so we have to start from scratch but I am working on getting a kernel built and a few others have taken up the challenge as well. I think we will have a .35 kernel but its going to take a little while as most of us have to learn/relearn all the basics. I've got my system about 50% setup to start doing the build on the kernel (there are a ton of libraries and programs to download into a new install of linux), I will hopefully be finishing up the system sometime tonight. There is a new thread dealing with compiling a kernel I think you will see a lot of activity in there over the new few day/weeks. Be patient it may not be me that gets a working kernel going but I'm sure it will happen.

Ya, i seen that he took the source code- why would he take it with him- would'nt he want to share?
That would suck to have to download all the programs/files and make them work together.
Hope you and others become successful with this (I would believe) stressful process.

I think joban believe we were going to take his code and claim credit or something, not sure really. Then there was a bit of a spat between him and Thrivin over the code and the moderator got involved so he decided to leave. I wish him the best regardless of his reasons.

Installing all the libraries is just time consuming not so much hard it just takes hours to get it all downloaded and installed.

As to the stress ... this isn't stressful its just a challenge is all :P

right. I seen the moderator stopped the posts. I understand why he wouldn't want someone to take credit for his work-Heck i wouldn't want someone to take credit for mine. I wish i knew more on making the mod, and using Linux... eventually i will understand. Also, what do you mean by code tho? Just curious.

Code is short for source code. It is the basic building block of any program. Computers only understand 1&0 or on & off. So instead of writting millions of pages of 1's & 0's we write in what is called a high level language which basically use words similar to english to create a program for instance in BASIC (as very easy to learn language) if I want to print the word hello to the screen I would type:

Print "Hello"

This is code now you put page after page after page of this together and you end up with something useful. Mind you Linux and android don't use BASIC they use C, C++, JAVA, PHP, SQL and whole slew of other languages to create all the program that make the computer work. If you interesting in learning more I recommend getting Ubuntu or Fedora and installing it along side of windows and just start to play with it. You will be suprised at how much you will learn and how quickly. Plus linux is way easier to use than it was when I first started. My first linux install took a week to download all the files and if I configured it wrong it could litterally cause to my monitor to burn up. Linux is way more user friendly now (its amazing what 15 years will do).

That is so awesome. Im not very educated in this department. I just know a few things here and there, just enough to get me by. I will deff. look into checking out Ubuntu. I heard a lot about Ubuntu i just didn't know what it did (still kinda don't), but Linux is like a programming system if im right, and it can be used to "Hack/crack" certain websites, passwords, programs, and devices, is that right?

no linux is an operating system like Microsoft Windows or MAC OSX though it can be used for hacking purposes it isn't meant for that. It is really just a complete open source (meaning you can see the code if you really want to) Operating System. Check into ubuntu and download it to be installed by windows (WUBI) that way if you dont like it you just uninstall it like any other program.

What happens when you perform the factory wipe? What should I do before I do that?

EDIT: Okay, when ahead and did the wipe, then install each item and rebooted each time, went up to the transformation pack, and then after the reboot, stuck on the android logo :( At least the colour is right now, looks like joban's kernel worked.

EDIT: Got it to work, I formatted everything like donavan suggested, and I only proceeded to install the ROM and kernel before rebooting (not sure if that makes a difference)

Are you on the new baseband or the old? If your on the old try clearing all your caches and such and reinstalling everything if your on the new then this rom isnt going to work for you.

Once I finally got this Rom to boot and everything, I encountered a major problem. The phone said "no sim card" and like the above person mentioned many things were missing from the "about phone" section such as phone number. I figured it was just the Rom so I took the sim card out and put it in my backup phone (a normal feature phone that has ALWAYS recognized my sim) and it too said no sim. No phone will recognize my sim now. does anyone know how this could have happened?

It's a really nice ROM, the only issue that i have, is that i can't use the home button in my thrive

Thats kinda weird, check around in the settings there may be one that lets you re-assign your buttons to other functions maybe it got all screwed up during the install.
