Cost of Thunderbolt $$$

I've seen a few different figures for the NE2 credit; $30, $50 and $100. How is the NE2 credit determined? Does the phone you're upgrading from factor into the credit?

Primary Line is eligible for an upgrade in May and the Secondary Line has been eligible since May, 2009 (my wife doesn't want to get rid of her easy-to-use feature phone).

Thank you!

Unfortunately, I don't know definitively, but I believe it is based on when you started the contract, and has nothing to do with the phone. Verizon has been phasing out the NE2 credit for the last few years. Initially it was $100, then it was down to $50 (I haven't heard of the $30). Unless someone has been sitting on an upgrade for quite some time (more than a few years), then I'd guess it's $50 or less. Plus, it's only for the primary line, not any secondary or additional lines.

I don't think it does. The credit is solely based off of when you began your new contract period as far as I know.

From the Verizon FAQ:

I think I'm currently enrolled in your New Every Two? program. How do I know what my discount will be if I want to upgrade my phone?

You can check your New Every Two eligibility by signing into My Verizon. If you were enrolled in the program on February 15, 2009 or later, you are eligible for a credit of up to $30 or $50 depending on your plan, with a two-year renewal. If you were enrolled prior to February 15, 2009 and continue to meet the requirements of the program, you will qualify for a credit of up to $50 or $100, depending on your plan. In either case, you will be able to redeem your New Every Two credit one more time for an upgrade for up to six months from the New Every Two Redemption Date. After that time, you will not be re-enrolled.

So not only is the credit based on when you enrolled in the program (i.e. when you signed your last contract), it's also based on how much you pay for your calling plan each month.
