I just got back from Costco. That's where I bought my Atrix 30 days ago. The salesperson who waited on me at the time, lied to me about their policy. Of course, I could have read it myself, but that's another issue for a -whole- different kind of forum lol
They apologized, but the Infuse won't be available in store until May 15.
I can't speak to new contracts, but I can to upgrade contracts with AT&T.
Costco Policy:
All phones are warrantied for 90 days. So, if your phone messes up on day 90, Costco will replace it with a brand, spankin' new phone or, you can select a different brand new phone. On day 91, the warranty reverts to AT&T. With AT&T, if your phone messes up between day 91 and 1 year from the date of your contract (9 months), they will send you a refurb, not a brand new phone. After one year from the date of your contract, you're out of luck. Of course, you can go after the manufacturer like I did RIM, and get a refurb that way, at least that worked for me.
1) If you upgrade after your 2 year contract is up (like I did), the buyer's remorse period is 30 days. That means, if you decide you don't like the phone, or you don't like the carrier or whatever, you can return the phone for a refund within 30 days and they will reverse your new contract back to the original without any cost to you and you go back to your original phone. In my case, I went back to my broken Blackberry.
If you decide not to return the phone, but swap it out for the same phone (new) or, swap it out for an entirely different new phone, Costco will honor the 90 day warranty but, it's from the date of your contract. So, if you wait until day 30 like I did, the Costco warranty on the new phone would be 60 days.
Because the Infuse wasn't in stock yet, the girl said, no worries, just come back to me and I'll honor the 30 day swap. She acted like she was doing me a big favor, which set off alarm bells in my head. She said this because she didn't want me to reverse my contract. I opted to cancel my new contract because I wanted a full 90 day Costco warranty on the Infuse. If I'd taken her up on her offer and Costco didn't get the Infuse for another 3 weeks, that would be 3 weeks off the 90 day Costco Warranty on the Infuse and I'd be locked into AT&T for 2 years.
So, there you have it. If this has been written about somewhere else in here, I apologize. I couldn't find anything, so I thought it might help someone out there who was thinking about buying a phone and upgrading their contract through Costco.
