Could my phone be possessed?

It's possessed!

I've had my G3 for about 4 months, and this morning I woke up and it was randomly clicking through different apps and calling people at random. I'm sure my mom loved the 5am wakeup call. I've done a full factory reset and removed my screen protector, but even now, I'm watching it just randomly click different things. With all the buzzing and clicking, it sounds like a Geiger counter in a nuclear waste zone right now lol. It's under warranty and they are sending me a new one, but it's just perplexing.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Sounds like a bad digitizer.

The best way to describe it is that it is just randomly and rapidly opening and closing apps and clicking buttons. You can see the buttons being pressed and the screen scrolling, but there is no user input. It's looks like what would happen if you just stuck your finger on the screen and swiped it around. For example, it eventually got to google search and started typing just random letters, then got to the phone app and started selecting contacts.

This all started while I was sleeping last night/early morning and was not plugged in.

1-Find a Catholic Priest
2-Have him get a copy of the Roman Ritual
3-Perform an Exorcism, pronto!

Your touch screen is bad. I had this happen to me on the original droid. It did just like you described, scrolling and opening apps.

I am also having difficulties the last few nights since the OS upgraded to Lollipop - phone just keeps turning itself on throughout the night whilst docked. It turns itself on then off then on then off, then is black for an hour or so, then back on/off/on/off - very weird. Don't know exactly how long or often it happens cause I am getting (some) sleep. When I look at it it doesn't have any scrolling messages or anything. Weird. Any clues?
