Could the Pixel 3XL even offer anything that would make you wanna trade your Note 9 for it?

The Notch is hideous. Other than the camera there's really not much that intrigues me. The camera is not even that much better. If a photo doesn't produce the colors, highlights, contrast, etc. that I want then I'll just adjust it with Snapseed or the Lightroom app. My Pixel 2XL hardly gets used and Samsung's updates are just a few weeks behind Google so people need to stop using that as an excuse to prefer the Pixel over Samsung.

Unless the notch part was just rumors, without the notch, I am still interested to see what Pixel 3 XL can offer. Their photo processing is just awesome. Single lens camera beat most of the dual camera smartphone in the market.

camera. not that impressed with the note 9 camera compared to my pixel. really like the pen though so wouldn't switch

Camera and instant updates, but not enough with that horrible design and lack of RAM. I was Pixel 3 XL camp for the longest time until I saw how stupid it looked, prior to that I didn't even consider the note 9.

Instant updates are overrated. They are always full of bugs

Well, a few things:
- A better camera means a lot to many folks. Both phones have very good cameras IMO, but the 2 XL has a great one (I have that also). If I had to use Snapseed or Lightroom for my photos often because the Note 9 photos were not good enough, then I wouldn't be using that phone.

- Major OS updates are more like 6 months+ behind the Pixel. Many folks don't care all that much anyway (I am one of them), but for folks who do care, the Note will be way behind OS levels compared to the Pixel. If you are referring to monthly security patches, they might be pretty close in release time to the Pixel line. However they are hit and miss depending on your carrier.

Haven't gotten the N9 yet but I wouldn't swap my N8 either, not even with cash my way thrown in

It would be a huge downgrade coming from a N9. It will have a good camera but that's it. Pixels are just mid range phones priced at a flagship price.

LOL have you ever even used a Pixel? These are FAR from a "mid-range" device. I still use a Pixel 1 and I have seen 0 lag after 2 years, and the camera is STILL better than the newest iPhone. No phone has the bells & whistles of a Note, and that's a feature not a bug. Note 9 is chock full of bloat and will no doubt suffer the same Samsung slowdown as every other Galaxy phone out there.

I love my Pixel XL 2. I enjoy the constant updates, new features and cleanliness of stock. I think Samsung is overhyped and I think it's crazy that the community believes a lack of updates from a company who neglects their customers is ok. With how open source Android is, security updates area benefit. And to the guy who says that the new software always has bugs, agreed it does, but it's better then never having an update at all. Just my opinion. A lack of caring for your consumer resonates with me more then complaining about how dry stock is.

With all that said, I won't be upgrading, these prices are getting to be too stupid.

Yeah, because there aren't cases of Pixel 2s slowing down for no reason, even so far as to have Google employees test some guy's multiple devices because they lagged out of nowhere and they didn't know why.

Again, why do people who don't even like the Note 9 post here?

Well to clarify I still use Snapseed and Lightroom with my Pixel 2XL and also my iPhone X so the minimal camera difference is a moot point for me.

And agree yes the major OS update is always a few months behind while Samsung elvauates and makes it compatible but yeah that's not a huge deal to me. After using Pie on my Pixel 2XL it's nothing ground breaking to really want it right away. It's always about security patches that people seem to always use as an excuse. And yes carrier versions typically get them before unlocked models but they still get them regardless.

Why do people speak on things that they have no first hand experience with. Since the S8/S8+ Samsung has been timely with security updates at the most one month behind and that's because they have to first test the security update with the various models and carriers have to evaluate them too. Plus Samsung may add some of their software updates along with it.

Please stop with the security update argument. Read through this forum and you'll see people are already receiving the September security update.

Edit: BTW, my AT&T Note 9 is downloading the Sept. security update right now as I type this.

Agreed on the camera part because Google image processing is better. However, since the Note 8 series, Samsung seldom suffer from lag. The new Note 9 had very little bloatware, I can said nearly to none. Samsung UI 9.0 and above doing great.

The only time I looked in Google's direction was when developer B_S_G introduced the Pixel camera port for the 825 Snapdragon and I loaded it onto my LG V20. A couple of years later and I also ported the software to my Note 8. With the Note 9 I feel no need to download it. The N9's stock cameras give me all the options I need.

I had a Pixel 2 XL and really loved it. Once I started to see the Pixel 3 XL, I knew I was going to go with the Note 9.

Mainly because the Pixel 3 XL is ridiculously huge and they Shrunk the battery size. No thank you

the note 9 is the first Touchscreen cell phone that can handle my heavy workload. I finished my work day with 35 to 40% battery life left. I normally have to charge my phone before my work day is over

Exactly... I was excited for the Pixel 3 until I started reading up on the leaks... Then my mind was changed completely

You're goofy!

They may be overrated to you but that doesn't make them overrated. To your second point. Late updates have bugs too because they have to be ported over to the phone by the OEM

Because all forum members are allowed to post their thoughts anywhere. Having said that, none of the points being made in this thread are anything new. We know some like certain things while others don't.
