Android Central Question

My home screen has a folder that contains both Gmail & Hotmail. Suddenly, several days ago, I began seeing a count of my unread hotmail messages displayed in that folder (& on the hotmail icon after I opened that folder) . . . a little red circle, like "messages" for unread texts. I was delighted with that "update(?)". Verizon had told me 2 years ago that that wasn't possible.

Anyway, this morning as I was reading email, that count indicator disappeared & I can't figure out why or how to get it back.

How do I turn that setting(?) back on?

1st . . . I'm the original poster . . . I failed to mention that I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. I have no idea which forum this is posted in. If an administrator (or whomever) can move it to the correct forum, I'd surely appreciate it.

2nd . . . I've found a "partial" answer.

In the Outlook (Hotmail) app . . .
• Tap the 3 horizontal bars (upper left)
• Tap settings (* lower left)
• Tap Notifications
• Tap Notifications
• Tap "All mail" or "None"

I say "partial" answer for 2 reasons
1. It doesn't always work
2. There is no setting for "Unread mail", which was the notification count that I have received for the last several days (& what I really would like to have).

Maybe this is Outlook's way of telling me to CLEAN OUT MY INBOX.
