Couple EVO Questions I have.

First off I am very new to Android and am still learning how to tweak this thing. I really like the phone but I have a few concerns regarding my phone in general. When I power it off it usually takes more then 5 minutes to turn back on. My wife and 2 other people have this phone and they do not have this problem at all. All three of their units turn right back on without waiting. Next when I use the headphone jack it always has terrible static and it doesn't really matter what I plug it into, it is there. Has anyone dealt with these issues and is it possible I have a defective unit. Some insight would be greatly appreciated....Thanks

Sounds like a defective unit to me - all the EVO's I've seen boot up in under a minute and don't have any static on the headphone jack.

Once it's powered on the boot sequence takes no time at all, but once it's turned off it takes at least 5 minutes to power back on.

Ive had this problem twice.... and coincidentally Ive turned my phone off twice.

The second time was just now, I wanted to do a hard reset (phones too buggy) and you are supposed to hold down the volume down button with the phone off and click the power button...nothing happens.

So, then I try to just power my phone back on and I was holding it for 5 seconds, let go, nothing. 10 seconds let go, nothing. Tried and tried again and finally like 3-4 minutes later it worked

Yeah I don't know what the problem is honestly. Like I said I know of three other EVO's and none of them have this issue. So maybe mine is a tad defective. Other then that and the crappy sound from the headphone jack I have been really happy with the phone. I just don't know if I should take it back for a new unit or not.

To do a hard reset in your case I would pull the battery and put it back in then do the volume down and power button. It's what I had to do when my phone wouldn't really "shut off" - just like the rest of these issues. I went a little app crazy at first, I did a hard reset and no longer have this problem. Now I install apps one at a time, if there's a problem I get rid of it and just don't want to deal with any issues from buggy code that doesn't let the phone shut down completely or start up fast.
