My wife cracked the screen on her 2013 Moto X. Has anybody attempted to fix the screen themselves? Is it doable for a novice? Otherwise, do you think the best thing to do is to take it to one of the local screen repair shops or am I better off just sending it to Motorola (I think they charge $100 and give you a brand new one)? I'm tempted to just do that and then sell the new one unopened on Swappa and buying the 2014.

If it's a MotoMaker designed one, fill out the request for repairs on their support site. My screen shattered and they sent me a code for a brand new device, no charge. I was even honest in filling out the questionnaire, admitting fault. Worst thing that can happen is that they give you a quote for a repair and you turn it down. People that bought an off the shelf model in stores have not had such luck with the free replacement though.

I bought it from Motomaker but they quoted it as $100 to replace it. I might hold off and see if the 2014 Moto X goes on sale on Cyber Monday. Last year, it was $350, so I'll probably spring for that instead of getting it fixed in that case.
