Because Amazon states it is not going to be back in stock in October, it is becoming difficult to find in Best Buy and the Play Store is reporting a multi-week wait list.

Also this is when you find out all those supply and demand lectures they gave you in High School and bored you to death with really does work.

There's always someone willing to pay so people do this. It goes for all sorts of products. Look at the iPhone 5 when it was released. People were selling them for $1k. Same for Droid Maxx when it came out. I had to wait almost a month to get the Maxx. I wasn't paying $1k for it.
