A few days ago, the screen for my moto droid began to "jump" around. Any menu screen such as my text lists, email, or even the launcher window, the screen will randomly scroll up and down rapidly, pick a msg, email or app, depending on what screen i am on, and open it up. Touching the screen will not stop the scrolling or allow me to open anything. The return button will not work, nor the home button. All i can do to stop it is to turn it off then back on and i have maybe a few taps or seconds before it starts the chaos again. Along with this crazyness, the notification bar will drop down on its own and i can not push it up or use the return key.

The phone has become unusable, except that i do have very limited control using the D pad. Has anyone heard of this problem and do you know of any solution to it. I have not downloaded any new apps, nor have i dropped it or whatever else. I am beyond frustrated. Thanks for any input anyone has.

Hello,
I have the same problem and there are two main reasons for this to happen.
-High humidity levels inside the phone
-Broken digitizer (it may not be broke but sometimes they stop working)
The solution would be to replace the digitizer at least that is what I am going to try.
Google ghost screen and you will find a lot of people that have had this problem
Best regards

I have this issue as well. It began about 1 month ago and is starting to drive me crazy. Sometimes the screen is OK but more than half the time it takes multiple presses of any key button or widget to get an action. Typing texts has become next to impossible most of the time. I've been debating about going to Verizon and see if I can get an exchange. I'm not due for a new every2 discount until November. If I'm not mistaken, I could upgrade now but pay $299 for the Charge plus a $20.00 early up fee. I'd rather not and just wait till the price drops and I don't have to pay an early upgrade fee.

Hey I had this problem this weekend. It started with the Left Side of the screen just NOT working. Didn't know how much I used it until I couldn't. Then early Sunday, the screen started doing what you described: Opening apps, scrolling, selecting, and jumping all on its own.

I took it to the Verizon store and the guy said that it was either a software issue or a bad app. He gave me two options: Wipe the phone and see if that helps (but my phone would be wiped) or send me a replacement. I opted for the replacement since they offered it free of charge.

I STRONGLY encourage you to do the following: Back up everything on your phone if you can. I noticed when I left it alone for an hour or more, it would be temporarily responsive. I was unable to rescue my many apps and ended up starting all over. also the replacement they sent me kinda sucked. I would go through the process again but I'm actually over this phone and would rather just ride it out for a few months.

Wishing you better luck than I have.. :(

i've had this problem for quite a while now, and it sometimes makes my phone completely unusable. all i can do is keep turning the screen off and on to see if it's stopped yet. luckily my upgrade just hit today, but i'm not sure what route i want to go yet. i'd hoped the bionic would be out by now but it's not and the vigor is right around the corner as well. i'm not in a 4g area currently so i've also considered the dx2, d3, and dinc2. i will probably just end up toughing it out until the bionic releases, unless some for sure info on specs and release of the vigor come about before then.

I have the LG and it is doing the same thing? I went onto the LG website and wrote to them. We shall see what happens. I like all the memory on this phone but I paid it off less than a year ago...I don't want ot buy another $450+ phone right now. #annoying.
