Creaky extended battery cover

The fit of th ext battery cover is horrible. The creaking drives me nuts. But the stock battery life drives me to a point of insanity. I'll deal with the creaking for the great battery life I get with the fatty battery.

Keep phone in pocket, looked at the tape just now. Still looks like it did when I put it on. But I understand your concern of it getting warm and doing what electrical tape does when its warm. No problems for me yet tho.

Sometimes I wonder if the cover is going to stay on due to how easily it comes off. Some felt underneath the cover should stop noises. Good luck

Yep. Me too. Reminds me of my old Cutlass Supreme. Crickity car with a monster under the hood :)

all you need to do is cut a piece of paper a little bit smaller then the size of your battery and put it ontop of the battery. Then put the cover back on. Make sure the paper stays in place. If it still creaks, fold it in half and retry. Thats what I did and it worked. No more creaks.

i have two extended batteries and two ext.backs. One creaks a bit, one corner seems to pop out now and again and i just pop it back down.

i regularly (two weeks into use) get ~12+ hours moderate use and it is typically ~48 hrs between charges.
...the only reason i have two extended batteries is my wife is happy as can be with the use she is getting out of the standard battery. So i gave her my std. bat and she gave me her extended. Now we each have two batteries that serve our needs.

SoDev!!! I tried the tape all of three minutes ago ...

AND IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO MORE CREAKING!!!!

Very simple and it totally works! All you have to do is get some standard electrical tape and cut a strip in half the long way. Then just lay a strip butt-up to the battery and smooth. Do the same for the other side and put on the cover then check it out. after one half strip on either side, I found that there was still just a hair of creaking. So I added a second strip on top of the strip I had already placed. It completely works!
I attached a quick pic just because I wanted to one-up SoDev :p

Yay! No we don't have to listen to you whining anymore...

Just kidding. :) It's the little things that get to me too.

p.s. the tape is crooked. :p

...kidding again! ;)

I'll find something else to whine about... just wait. And I don't care about no stinkin' crooked tape... no more creaking... tears of joy here...

Thanks again, man!

Sure, man, but don't forget that the tape was thozgyz idea.

About next time... can't wait. :)

Creaky battery door (standard)

FYI
For me, the the creak (upper corner of standard cover) was the result of removing the battery cover when switching out batteries. There are little (plastic) contacts attached to the inside battery cover. In order to get that "tight" fit, one will need to carefully and ever so slightly bend (1 millimeter) the contact inward (toward the center of of the battery cover) on the offending side.

The tape idea is a pretty good one for the extended cover; no bending involved. I used that trick (electrical tape) on my Nokia N95 8GB for the (loose) slider issue.

Had some extra time on my hands to reply. Now I'll have to get back to work.

Hope this points you in the right direction,
