I have had my EVO 4G since launch last year, I really liked the phone, but was not a fan of the thick, bulky and heavyweight, plus screen was sort of washed out bland, other than that, I rooted it, and tried tons of custom ROM's, and really got the Android bug big time in a good way Had a great time with that device for a year.

Then I bought the EVO-3D on launch day recently, and to be honest I am not nearly as blown away with it, as I was with the EVO 4G last year. Still it is a great phone, but I am not foaming at the mouth over it like I thought I would.

Long story short, my Wife was ready for an upgrade, I bought her the Nexus-S 4G a few weeks ago, and hot damn, that little phone is awesome. I love the screen, and the curved shape feels great in the hand, plus it is thin and lightweight, great for pockets. And I dare say this Nexus-S is almost on par with my 3VO, it feels about the same smoothness/speed as the dual core 3D.

I am very tempted in returning my EVO-3D, and picking up a stock vanilla Android experience phone. I am thinking these Nexus phones might be the best thing Android offers, and then upgrade this Winter to the Nexus-4.0 Prime.

opinions ?

I was in the same boat as you. Loved my EVO and was eagerly awaiting the 3d. I played with both phones extensively rather than just buying the 3d and came to the same conclusion as you. The Nexus is just as speedy for all normal use. I also wasn't a big fan of the EVO build quality, and am sick of waiting for a nice aluminum HTC phone to come to Sprint, so I figure I would give the Nexus a shot. It has not disappointed. I am extremely happy with it. Its blazing fast, the screen is amazing(100x better in the sun than the EVO), and the phone feels sturdy and solid. No flimsy battery door making noise, or light bleed, or screen lifting, or plastic cracking, like was common on the EVO's. I don't know why people complain about Samsung build quality, and praise HTC build quality, because I have found the exact opposite to be true

Thanks guys I needed to hear that. I have my nexus 4g listed on Craigslist. Was trying to trade for the evo 3d.So this little info I have read is really making me change my mind.

99% plan to return the EVO-3D this week, and pick up a new Nexus-S for $99. The EVO-3D is cool, and fast, but I am not digging the thick bulky size, plus it is a long/tall phone. And I am a sucker for Super AMOLED screen. And will keep the Nexus-S until the new Nexus-4.0 Prime comes to Sprint on sale this holiday season

I love the Evo3D but the 3G speeds I found to be very slow so I am thinking about taking it back to get the Photon

I got the Nexus 4G S For 199.99 back in May and switched it for EVO 3D in June for the same price.. I was not impressed with EVO 3D as i felt the sense UI was slower than what i had on NS4g but figured i'd let it grow on me. As time went on i felt that the nexus was nicer in terms of screen and i did not notice any of the benefits of 3D, the dual core chip and 1 GB ram. Given they were same price i figured maybe just keep the 3D and dual core even though i preferred the NS4G for usability.

Come July, I discovered that they dropped the NEXUS S 4G to 99.99, so I switched to NS4G and got an extra 100$ refund.

Bottom line is at 199.99( same price for each unit) I would say evo3d and NS4G is a toss up. I'd give the edge to NS4g, but you can make valid arguments for both phones.

EVO3D: 3D capture and playback, Dual Core, 1 GB ram
NexusS4G: Super Amoled screen, Pure Android, Feels faster or just as fast in real usage.

HOWEVER, at half the price NS4G is the clear winner.

I made the switch. So much less clunky in my hands. So far I really like the Nexus S, but I hate the button layout. I guess it will just take some getting used to.

Reading this makes me feel better about not being able to afford the 3D yesterday when I picked up my Nexus. Glad to be done with Blackberry and wanted to get an upgrade in before the Mail in Rebate returned.

Had an Evo3D for 2 weeks and switched to the Nexus a week ago. I mostly didn't care for the size and weight of the Evo. The Nexus has a great feel, just the right size and is equal to or better than the Evo in every way, for me. And the screen is better too. Sense was of no value either. The Nexus makes Sense.

Me too. Samsung said that they couldn't fit both microsd slot and NFC chip. Persnally the onborad storage on the nexsus s is fine foor me.

Yeah, no micro SD card was a dissapointment for me as well, but with Google Music, I am OK with it.

Hmm, I was considering testing out the Evo 3d, but thought that you could only trade once. Did you have any problems trading the phones?

For a few months I had been researching the NS4G and comparing it with the EVO 3D. I had my mind set that I wanted the NS4G mainly because of its sleeker shape. My husband has the EVO 4G and I don't like how thick, heavy and long it is. After reading on many forums about the signal issues, etc., many people were complaining about regarding the NS4G I went against my mind set and bought the EVO 3D with my upgrade on its launch day figuring I would give it a try. I had the phone for about two days before I decided I should have stuck to what I really wanted and returned it for the NS4G. The 3D aspect of the phone really didn't impress me and the side camera button just got in the way. It was way too chunky for me even though it seemed a bit slimmer than the EVO 4G it really wasn't when compared side by side. I love my NS4G. It fits perfectly in my hand, its lightweight, the screen is beautiful and I have not had any of the signal or radio issues reported. This being my first android phone I am extremely happy with my decision to return the EVO 3D for the NS4G.
