Curious Freezing

I have a Galaxy S9+

I'm experiencing a curious freeze. At unpredictable times perhaps 4 times a day my screen freezes and stops responding to touch. However this is not all the screen. The quick launch at the bottom works and launches apps but they won't respond. I can swipe down form the top too and access notifications and settings. However again the notifying app or setting that's launched fails to respond.

If I reboot my phone everything works. Fine until the next time. Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

I see you are a newer member here - welcome to Android Central!

I agree with Mustang. If parts of your screen still seem to be responding, perhaps the problem lies with a third-party app rather than a fault with the hardware.

Is your software up to date? Are there any pending app updates available when you go to the Play Store and tap "My Apps & Games"?

Thanks both for getting back to me. Not sure how to get to safe mood but I'm sure I'll be able to Google it. As to updates yes all the apps and the android system are up to date.

Here's how boot your S9 into Safe Mode:

OK thanks for all the help. Going into safe mode did halt the problem. I rebooted our of safe mode and when the phone locked again I did a bit more sleuthing. As I said before the bottom bar and the notification bar still worked and I realised that the bottom half of the screen worked too. It dawned on me that on one of me desktop screens I had a half page widget. I removed that and suddenly all is working fine.

That's so awesome! I'm so glad the issue is resolved now! :)
