According to the Virginian Pilot, Delta Airlines flight 2557 had just taken off when a cell phone battery that was not attached to a phone caught fire.

After the fire, passengers were told to turn off all cell phones.

Smh...fear is a mutha. And common sense is lacking.

I remember years ago a Dell or HP laptop battery caught fire on a plane and there was a big ordeal that the company went through... it just happens with batteries sometimes.

OMG it SPECIFICALLY says the battery was not attached, yet somehow that means all phones need to be turned off....SMH indeed!
