Which is which? Also, one is wi-fi and the other is mobile. And third, though it probably doesn't make a difference, you're connecting to different servers.

Lol obviously the slow one is sprint and the att one is from a hot spot device using my a100 tab

I can't really complain with AT&T other than I wish they would come back out with an unlimited data plan and offer upgrades a little more often that aren't so expensive.

AT&T via Straight Talk here. Still on the honeymoon, having come from Sprint then Boost (same as Sprint sans roaming) but it's far superior to Sprint in speeds. I'd have garbage Sprint speeds in the daytime - average 200kbps - but AT&T stays around 2mbps. It can be faster off-peak.

I'm using a Captivate - not an HSPA+ phone. I'm pretty dang thrilled actually. As long as it holds I'll be extremely happy.

I have to say I can't complain. When I hear that other unlimited users get throttled a 2GB, that kind of irritates me. However, I work from home and sit near my own wifi connection all day. My highest data usage over the past 12 months has been just over 500Mb, so throttling has never been an issue for me. I also don't like the tethering rules, but that's the deal.

I've been with AT&T for years way back when it was the other AT&T before Cingular. Call quality and reliability and texting have always been on par. I've only been concerned about the data over the last 2 or 3 years and as stated above, that has been adequate for my needs. I live in an LTE city and with the speeds I've been getting on my LTE phone, I might even consider giving up my unlimited plan to get a tethering plan for home internet backup.

I moved from Sprint last April and haven't had any issues. With a family plan, unlimited mobile to mobile rollover and my discount through work I'm paying the same for essentially the same service I had with Sprint other than unlimited data which hasn't been an issue.

I can't say I have had any service issues or any problems with drops or data speeds not being sufficient.

I'm personally relatively satisfied with my AT&T service. I moved over from Sprint as well. Data speeds are VASTLY better, but I do miss having access to the Verizon network via roaming. I drive from Sacramento to Seattle, and the I-5 at California/Oregon border has sketchy AT&T coverage. Don't like supporting a giant like AT&T but Sprint just needs to get their act together.

Been with them for years and have no complaints. Recently got the SGS ii Skyrocket and was forced off my unlimited plan. Didn't put up much of a fight and use wifi at home so I don't think it will be much of a problem. Coverage is superb.

Not happy w/ phone coverage of 3G. and big business often miss the customer service approach when helping out but as a fair approach cannot deride them as being bad...just part of life.

The individual makes or breaks a company and the ATT tech that volunteers on the DSLREPORTS site was a big help. So was the tech that showed up at the house within a day and resolved a long standing issue within two hours.
So overall I'd have to say that each geographic location will be different and if one local service area is not meeting one's expectation then by all means look for one that will fulfill one's need. But in this case it would not be fair to slam one company as a failure over another.....no doubt each carrier has the same challenges in different areas.

Good luck in finding a provider that will meet your expectations. They await your business.

Very happy with AT&T. They are very good in Northwest, IN (right outside Chicago). Very nice HSPA+ speeds when the network isn't too congested. Can't wait to hop on their LTE network.

Had AT&T for years and had no complaints. Company I worked for required me to switch to Verizon because they pay for my phone bill and struck a deal with them for a discount. Horrible experience. Tons of dropped calls, poor voice quality and 3G downloads that crawl like dial up. And customer service is a joke; they're arrogant and rude. It made me appreciate what I had with AT&T and as soon as my contract is up I'm going back to AT&T and pay for the phone myself.

I never got a notice that I was approaching top 5% even though I use 4-5GB/month. If I ever get throttled I would probably be pissed. AT&T 3G in the last year has gotten much better, I'm experiencing faster data on my iPhone 4S.

Brand new user switching from Sprint to AT&T. So far... not happy at all.

From my desk at work in the heart of King of Prussia, PA:

AT&T average data speed - .15 mbps. No Option to choose 3G\HSPA+\LTE. Speed test app times out a LOT, lol.
Sprint average data speed (3G) - .6 mpbs
Sprint average data speed (wimax) - 8 mpbs

I started with AT&T when it was Cingular and have been mostly ecstatic with them. Food customer service and cover here in Texas is top notch. The negative attitude heaped on the mostly come from winning iPhone users who would rather blame the carrier the Apple for a poorly designed product. Steve could do no wrong so it must be the network. Funny how big red and sprint have the same issues.

Interesting discussion. Yes I am on Verizon but I like checking out what issues other carriers, people have and what they like about their carriers.

It's weird I keep hearing about these national outages with VZW but I rarely see them. Even so when I got the first 4G phone used I expected there to be bugs. The network is fairly stable and I trust it more than my cable (I have Time warner so go figure).

It's a matter of taste and location. I had AT&T with just a phone and I had terrible service thus I switched to Verizon. Are they perfect no, do I expect perfection....no. But I do expect my carrier to make things right when they are indeed at fault and for me Verizon has done that. Much like Sprint has for some and AT&T has for others.

I will say though that I see more anger threads in the Sprint area than with any other carrier.

I was with Cingular back in the day then left them for US Cellular,that lasted almost 10yrs til US Cellular went downhill and added their new belief plans.........so I left them for AT&T and I'm beyond happy! Excellent service,no dropped calls,great data speeds,you name it!!

I regret leaving them when they were Cingular.

I'm in SE WI Sprint is pretty bad here I hear nothing but complaints from ppl who have them.

I've had Verizon too and worst customer service I ever experienced in my life.....

Throttling is not just based on usage but where you are using it. So if you are in the middle of a major metro area you probably would be throttled (If you than I will keep my fingers crossed for your continued heavy usage success). I am not sure about AT&T but Verizon throttles it's 3G customers, 4G customers are not subject to the throttling plan.

Do you have proof of said throttle in metro area? I really don't buy that.
