Current Location or searched location in maps history?

What does this mean in maps history?
Were these locations visited or just searched for & how to tell the difference? Thanks so much

That means that someone searched for those locations, or selected the option to get directions for those locations. It was probably you, but remember that if you logged into any other device with your Google account (like a public computer) and didn't log back out, then any subsequent search on that device will be recorded to your Google activity.

Oh okay, thanks so much
Does that mean I was in east Chicago & searching directions for Chicago…because it lists Chicago as my current location. If not, how would I know what my actual location was? I’m trying to get more familiar with maps & the features

No, I think that just means that when you did the search for directions, it was defaulting to directions from your Current Location to East Chicago.
