custom boot 4 shift

Before I start I would like to say I am awesome. That being said, this is
an custom guide developed by melficersx for the HTC EVO SHIFT 4G.
All recognition goes to AndroidCentral for being way more awesome than me.
p.s. must be rooted


ON YOUR COMPUTER

1 Look for a custom boot screen on google, I have also posted some links
below.

2 Download, mount your device, and move anywhere to you SD card
and rename to: bootanimation.zip if needed.



ON YOUR SHIFTY 4G

1 Download and install root explorer

2 Use R/E to dig into your SD card to locate and select it to
copy/cut/move the bootscreen you just downloaded

3 Use R/E to go to:

• 3a system
  
• 3b customize
  
• 3c resource
  
• 3d select R/W in upper right corner

4a Look for: bootanimation.zip

• 4b Rename to: bootanimation.xip

5a Paste new bootanimation file in: system/customize/resource

• 5b Rename to: bootanimation.zip if neccesary

6 Select R/O and exit Root Explorer


REBOOT AND VOILA!!

im still working on a fix for the boot sound. if you wanna go for it, its a 6 second mp3 file named "VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3" all the way at the bottom of the system/customize/resource list.

SUPEREDIT! i have figured it out. you can use ANY music sample that is a 30 second or less mp3 file and just use Root Explorer to go to the same directory: system/customize/resource. then move the audio file there and rename it: VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3. BE SURE TO RENAME THE ORIGINAL FILE(just in case). i named it VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3d

UPDATE! For shift phones that have been rooted and flashed with a ROM that's not stock, the file path you will look for is: system/media. The bootanimation.zip is there, but you cannot modify the sound.
