Custom notification sound issue

I am having trouble getting my phone to allow custom notification sound settings for people or apps. I recently did a factory reset on my Note 2 and now the only app that is allowing a custom sound for notifications is Gmail. I want to set different sounds for my wife's texts, Twitter, etc... just like I had before the reset but it won't do it. I make the change and it shows the custom sound as being set, but it will still play the same sound as for other notifications. Anyone else have this issue and if so what fixed it for you? Thanks!
