Custom Notifications/Ringtones sounds (yet another post)

Hello, androidcentral!

Sorry to bother, but I have a very annoying custom notification/ringtone related problem.
I have googled all the internet up and, after failing to find the answer, I decided to join and post my question here.
Also please forgive me for any poor English, because I am not a native.

Problem:

- I have a Galaxy S7 edge
- I want to set a custom .mp3 file as my notification sound
- I copied it into /storage/notifications
- It doesn't show in the notification sounds list .​

What was tried of the internet wisdom:

- "Reboot the device. You're welcome! ^_^".
Suuuure... doesn't help.

- "Create an /sdcard/audio/notifications folder! Put the file there. Reboot your device. Cheers! ".
Nope.

- "Put it into /media/audio/notifications folder! Worked for me". Yeaaah...
I don't have that folder.

- "Create a /media/audio/notifications folder! Put it there".
Didn't help. Made me feel stupid going around creating senseless folders, though.

- "An .mp3 file has metadata. Ensure yours has a non-empty title in it. After that it'll show up in the list".
By coincidence, my file actually did not have title in its metadata. However, adding one did not change anything.

- "Use a 'program name'. It will help".
I used the 'Ringtone maker' before (a year ago), but it does nothing now, although it behaves like it does the work done. All, that has changed since the time it worked properly, was Android Marshmallow->Nougat update.
-- Besides, I don't want to use any program. It drives me a little mad that my phone does not obey.

Strange symptom that might help to identify the problem (or not):
1. I go to the 'My files' explorer. I go to 'storage/notifications' where I see 'example.mp3' file. Cool.
2. Then I go to 'My files' explorer, hit 'Audio' (the one that shows all audio on your device?). I don't see any 'example.mp3'

Hope someone could help me. It drives me crazy. Giving the fact that I was iPhone user before buying Galaxy S7. And guess why I bought it?? Because you can't upload anything you want on an iPhone, for crying ot loud! And I get slapped in the face like that, Samsung?

Ringtone maker. Download that and you can them go into audio files and make that mp3 custom file into a notification sound

Use "My Files" file explorer and click on "SD card". In that directory click "More>Create Folder." Change New Folder to Media and tap on Create. Click on Media to go in there. Click on "More>Create Folder" and create a folder called Audio in there. Open Audio folder, click on "More>Create Folder" and create 3 new folders in the Audio folder. Call them Alarms, Notifications and Ringtones.

Make your .mp3 ringtone. It is best if your bit rate isn't higher than 128k. Fill out the mp3 tag for the file so it has something in the title field that you want it called. If you did your mp3 work on your computer or where ever, just make sure the file gets back onto your sd card into either 1 of the 3 folders you made or all 3 depending on what you want your mp3 for an Alarm, Ringtone or Notification.

Now go to your application you want to change the sound for, when you list your ringtones to pick from, the one you created will now be sorted in the list with all your other system ringtones to pick from.

All Samsung phones work this way. I've been doing this on all my phone since my GSII.

Try the Ringtone Maker app. I've used it before it will automatically pull up all audio files on your phone. You can make ringtones, notification tones, Alamitos tones out of the sound

As I posted in the original post, I used Ringtone Maker before. But now it does nothing.

SOLVED!
I deleted '.nomedia' file, which was located in the '/root' folder!
Apparently, what it did was:
- Hindered the 'Ringtone Maker' from putting sounds on ringtone and notifications
- Hindered Android Sound Picker from seeing custom sound files in any folders, even below the /root level. Now the sound picker works.
- As a side effect, I solved a problem of recording video from games via GameTools. Previously it told me 'Your video is in Gallery!'. When I went there, it couldn't be found anywhere. I thought it just didn't work. As it turns out, it actually worked, but .nomedia didn't let me see it. I had this problem for a year. Even reached out for Samsung Support. They couldn't help.
