Has anyone with the N8 been able to confirm the ability to assign different edge colors to contacts?

I just took a look through the edge settings and contact settings for people I threw on the edge display and didn't see anything...

THE Note 8 is pretty much a downgrade from the S8 plus in terms of software.

Not necessarily...its actually the same if not a slight upgrade

So that's a good N7 feature missing from the N8. Hmmm...

There were several Note 7 features for the edge that got discontinued. Perhaps this one left too. There was one where you could draw and send a message to someone elses edge panel. Obviously that has morphed into the live message, but I know several of these services got shut down late last year.

Again guys, That service was called OnCircle, and they killed it off back in December. It's no longer a feature in the People Edge Panel.
