[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

is there an easier way to do this? i saw on another forum that u can just copy the recovery image to your sd card then do a "flash recover su image file" (its not exactly what it said, cuz i dont remember it exactly)

You can do anything you want to with your device. We just know that what is posted in the OP works.
What is it that you are finding difficult? Cut and paste?

It would be
Code:
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

And it will only work if you've already installed the flash_image, which is covered in the first three of seven steps.
Code:
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
# chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
# mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img
# reboot recovery

The easiest way to install Xionia is to go here

The Recovery just cause my phone to reboot, so I flashed the Recovery Thunderc 3.06 and that one is stable for my Optimus V.

Hi i am using a LGE Opitimus V and I had recently decided to make a backup of my stock.... I succesfully Backed it up and then I downloaded cerberum rom from Rom manager. Not realizing it was going to erase all my data.... I decided to restore my previous backup. Then I got into the recovery loop and it showed the lg logo, then the vigin mobile boot screen, then the lg logo, and then clockwork mod recovery. So i decide to follow these instructions... http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...ck-cwm-recovery-without-root.html#post1168484 , and i had what was in the picture above. And then i tried to fix bootloop.... And nothing... :'( . and then i tried LG-style factory reset and nothing... except now its stuck and automatically factory resetting my phone!!!! and i cant access and options cuz it goes straight to it. PLZ HELP ME!!!

Don't use ROM Manager.

I figured that out a long time ago.... and now my device is back at the xionia screen, with all options available. Therefore, i am back in the recoveryloop and the fix from the options doesnt work...

i have tried to do the install thru an emulator but it says it cannot create the flash_image cuz its read only.. WHAT DO I DO!!!!???

What is read only and when exactly are you getting this error? When trying to copy to your SD card or when trying to cat it to your /system/bin directory?

I'm going to try this out cause I'm having issues with the Amon Ra style recovery but I wanted to let anyone that doesnt know about FlashImageGUI.apk you can flash the recovery right from the phone using that app just google it. I've used it and it works and its a lot easier and faster then using adb.

Wow. An app just for flashing recoveries? Why waste your precious internal memory on that? Is a half dozen commands, whether put through ADB or terminal emulator really that much of a challenge? I'm starting to think Apple is behind it. iHackbutcantcopynpaste? Apparently, there IS an app for that.

Edit:
I'm the first to appreciate a contribution that makes complicated common tasks easier for end users and those who introduce them. However, the exceptionally limited use of this and the target market render it the subject of intense gut laughter for me.

Oh, wait, there's more! It's a paid app!

My fav comment on the market page thus far:

Good app.

Great app...easy to use. Very good warnings so only idiots could do any damage to their device.

I want to reply: "Since you've chosen to ignore all such warnings on the 3rd party sites where you found the mod software, it is a blessing that you can buy this to warn you once more on your device. $12.75 says you drive a Prius and have never seen a live chicken."

This is hilarious!

You didn't remount the /system partition read-write. Read the instructions in the first post again.
