[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

i dont understand why people just dont read back a few pages of the thread
Yea.. Seems that we tend to answer the same ol questions on this thread. Sometimes it too hard for people to take the time and click back a few pages lol.

We make a good tag team... in a totally asexual kind of way! LMFAO

Can any of the devs or power users answer my question from page 36? Would really like to know if I could use the factory reset option with the current version. Thanks in advance.

Can I use the factory reset option now that I have CWMA v1.2518.6 ? I Created a backup immediately after rooting the phone and installing CWMA, so I have an original image backed up, but just wondered if I can use the factory reset option within CWMA to return the phone to its original state without having to do an advanced recovery since I have multiple ROMs installed. Also wondering if I can un root the phone so if I return it back to Sprint for a different phone they wouldn't know.
OK.. DO NOT USE FACTORY RESET WITHIN THE SETTINGS MENU OF THE ROM!

YOU CAN : Wipe the data/factory reset within CWMA.

YOU CAN: Swap between the ROMS thru CWMA... good to see you listened and backed up.

ALSO: If you wanna go to sprint.. and not get smacked in the face possibly, You NEED to go thru a process to return it back to STOCK.. Just recovering the backup doesnt do it. You still have a custom recovery and root on your cell...

Don't know if there was some special ROM in the original question, but in general, with the ROMs derived from stock, both privacy->reset and ##786# reset *do* work with CWMA. I've done it multiple times. Zefie specifically put in support to pass the reset over to the LG stuff if detected. The resets from within android definitely didn't work with ThunderC recovery (the first 2 versions, didn't try the third, most recent one) and would cause the reboot loop.

:(Can some one help me im not good with this at all i went to the spot i have my adb typed adb shell got a $ then typed su got # then i copied and pasted all the commands and did the recovery reboot:(

Okay, I did Everything you said on my Optimus S. But its still in the standard Android System Recovery.
Here's what my Menu looks like ...

Android system recovery <3e>

Android System Recovery Utility

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

>>>>>>>>>>>>> Its looks nothing like yours, what did I do wrong????!

I am so ready to do this! I read through from post 1 to the last post(3 hours of reading) Its just that I wanted to keep my phone as close to stock as possible. I have everything set, Made sure i have su set up all i have to do is copy and paste the commands....Just that I am nervious! I will let you know what happens when i take the plundge!

OK i have copied all files and installed all things were they are spouse to be. Problem is that when i put in the terminal adb shell i get a "not recognized". So i manually checked to see if adb shell was in the directory, when i looked it was not there but the file "adb has been moved" is there. I am guessing that is a way of "fixing" the directions to not work. Please help if you can. By the way i did read "adb has been moved" and installed "Android SDK Platform-tools", Still no luck with changing the adb shell with "Android SDK Platform-tools".

When I typed:

# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image

I got:

cannot create /system/bin/flash_image: read only file system

I know I have root. I have superuser after rooting and it allows terminal emulator access. What am I doing wrong?

What was the result of the preceding mount command?

Make sure u using the OptimusRootVD.zip directory n have been extracted.
Have u put adb in Path Variables?
if no, try that.
if yes, then make sure phone is in USB Debugging.
Also make sure to download LS670 Drivers n install before trying all that.
Post ur results.

Don't remember. I didn't think to write it down. Let me try again.

OK, so this time I got the following:

flash_image: permission denied

Each of the previous steps were input exactly as directed and the phone gave me another # prompt without any other messages.

Any ideas?
