[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

OK, so this time I got the following:

flash_image: permission denied

Each of the previous steps were input exactly as directed and the phone gave me another # prompt without any other messages.

Any ideas?
It would appear that it is still mounted read only. Did you put the two files or the two extracted files on the root of your sd card? They need to be extracted.

I extracted them first. I ran the gingersnap program three times before it took and installed the superuser app. Maybe I should run it again?

As long as you are getting a # prompt, that should mean you are rooted and have superuser access. If you type "su" on your computer what happens, both on your computer and on your phone?

I only used terminal emulator app on the phone itself. Should I have used the computer?

I only use the terminal emulator sparingly; didn't realize that's what you were using. What happens when you type su on the terminal emulator?

OK, first Igot this
Note: If you receive this error: failed on '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' - No such fileor directory Then ignore it and keep going, it means the file is already backed up or deleted, and your recovery will not be erased by LG.

I ignored it because the directions said it would be fine. I have Then when I input this:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img
I got "error opening /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img : No such file or directory

So just to recap, you are now getting past the "cat" command that was originally failing. You are now getting the above error on the "flash_image" command. Correct?

Also, are you typing the "#" as part of the command? If so, don't; just type everything following the "#" in the steps.

Did you copy the flash_image directory or the flash_image file inside the directory to the root of your sdcard? I'm guessing it's the former. You need to do the latter and then start over from step 1.

Using Astro File Manager I am showing "xionia_cwma_12518.6.img" and flash_image" in the "/mnt/sdcard" folder. The flash image does not have a file extension type associated to it. Am I in the right folder?

Move them to /sdcard

i thanks so much i did it in the first try thank you all great work and thanks for your time .............................

When I press wipe dalvik cache it reads E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (no such file or directory) then it goes to the no no no no no no no yes wipe dalvik cache no no no no no and I press yes and it says dalvik cache wiped. What does this mean?

Took me a couple tries to get it right, but very straight forward and easy to do. Thank you much! I hope installing a custom rom is as simple as this

Move them to /sdcard

I did that, but I didn't have time to mess with it the last couple days. Anyway, I still can't get it. I get to the point where I enter
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img
and I still get
error opening /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img : No such file or directory

I even re-extracted the iles to the SDCARD folder, but I still get the same error. I must be doing something that should be so obvious, but I can't figure it out. Felling pretty stupid right about now.

OK first of the files should be on the root of sd card look like this:
/sdcard

Then the other problem is make sure you have debugging on and phone plug in to computer USB storage off.

The next problem people make is when they type the commends in they leave out spaces. The easy way of doing this is copy & paste.
CNTL V to copy then right click in command shell to paste. Make sure you only have one # at the beginning of the command line. Plus only copy one line at a time. (When you copy leave out the #, its already in the command shell)

Hope this helps!

Got everything installed. I don't really know how to use this to backup my NAND. I went to -backup and restore and pressed home. I got a blank screen. I panicked for a sec, then typed in cmd prompt on my pc adb reboot recovery and I'm in the recovery menu again... don't really know what to do here.

Edit: Wow that was easy. I just read the instructions. I hit the camera button, and it works like a charm. Thanks for posting above about removing the # signs from the commands. I first tried it without the # signs but then when I got that error I figured I had to put them in too. It does sort of make sense that they are there... gotta make sure u have a # sign before you try to type the commands and not a $ looking sign.
