[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

Ahh.. please help.. I rooted and I'm following the directions exactly but I don't think the recovery is flashing.. I get to the first screen with the menu for xionia and the reboot now option.. when I select reboot now it doesn't give me any choose image to restore option.. it just reboots like normal with what I think is stock recovery. Is there any way to check what recovery im on now??

btw. i downloaded and unzipped the files. they're copied directing to my F: which is the root sd folder right? i know everyone's is different but mine is F: . i'm definitely rooted and on the command line i get the # sign.. i'm not in usb storage mode and my usb debugging is on.. i enter the exact commands, but when i select reboot, it just reboots as normal. it doesn't seem to reboot using the new recovery..

i'm lost.. i'm usually great with figuring out things like this but i'm stumped..

am i supposed to select reboot now? it doesn't work for me..

Cannot create /system/bin/flash_image: read-only file system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
cannot create /system/bin/flash_image: read-only file system

Y is that?? Please help

did you extract the zip files? They must be extracted to flash. The two downloads in the OP (opening post) must be extracted and placed on the root of the sd card. Then run the adb commands.

How many options do you show when your in your recovery? 4 or 8?
It should show in blue lettering:
-roboot now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advance

It will also show Xionia CWMA v1.2518.6 at top and bottom.

To make a nandroid backup use the volume keys and scroll down to backup and restore and hit your menu key to select. Choose the first option in the list which is backup.
To enter recovery: 3 basic ways (there are other ways to enter recovery)
Method 1. Press & hold power button+menu+volume down until LG screen shows and release.
Method 2. use adb shell and type reboot recovery and hit enter after the # command prompt.
Method 3. use termimal Emulator and type reboot recovery and hit enter (menu key) after the # command prompt.

Question about doing a nandroid backup. I followed the instructions, as I understand them.

I don't see an entry on the recovery console for 'backup and restore'
Just the following:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

What am I missing?

You did not get custom recovery flashed correctly, that is still the stock recovery. Read thru the opening post to see where you may have missed something. Just make sure to extract both files and place on the root of your SD card. Then follow the prompts to imput thru adb

You don't have root as evidenced by the $ prompt sign. When you have root, the prompt will be a #, and you will not type the #, just what follows the # sign in the steps.

Could it be a simple as the "- o" instead of "-o" in the first line?
Probably so, I'm sure.....
Trying it all again.

If it doesn't look like what is on the OP of this thread, you do not have the custom Xionia recovery.

That is a problem, but the more fundamental problem is the lack of the # prompt, meaning you have root.

You don't have root as evidenced by the $ prompt sign. When you have root, the prompt will be a #, and you will not type the #, just what follows the # sign in the steps.

once you get you adb shell running type su (stand for superuser)
this should change the $ to the # then start typing in the commands.
Alittle tip is copy and paste the command lines. Press contrl C in the fourns directions and then right click in the command window and select paste for each line, this way you avoid any typing mistakes, Just make sure you only have one # in the command line. (copy the direction after the # prompt to avoid having 2)

Thanks for your help. I downloaded a terminal emulator and it allowed me to use the su command.

Does it look like the images on the OP of this thread?

the screens when i'm recovering look like the op but when it reboots can i go to "about phone" and see a certain kernel or version that says something like clockwork xionia..?? everything in the about phone menu looks how it did before..

As far as I know, there is no information in "about phone" regarding recovery.

alright.. thanks for the help everyone.. i'm just making sure i don't get a custom rom and brick my phone.. i think it's in the new recovery but i wanna make sure i don't ruin the phone.

Once you install a custom Rom then you can goto "about phone" and see all the info on Rom & kernel.
