custom ringtone for text message, how? (samsung galaxy s5)

I have Ringtone Pro installed on my phone from the app store. I have created ring tones and notifications for text messages and user contacts. Once you create the tone you want go to My files folder on your phone. In my case I have a Note 5.

Path: My Files (folder on your home screen) /device storage/Locate the folder you saved the file in and move the file into the Notifications folder.

Open your contacts/click on a person/hit edit in the top right/ Hit more at the bottom of the contact/Scroll down to message tone and set desired tone.

***NOTIFICATION SOUND CAN ONLY BE 30 seconds LONG IN ORDER TO WORK!!!

You can use the My Files app to find the file in your ringtones folder (under device storage) and then copy it to your notifications folder. Hope that's what you were looking for.

I have done everything listed in this thread. My contacts each have a specific message tone but they don't work. It uses the general one that is in the settings. I have had so may issues with this S5. Any suggestions?

Well, when you are at the contact level are you actually selecting a ringtone for that person and then saving the contact? Are you selecting to turn on the messaging ringtone field, selecting and entering in a ringtone and then saving that? You are doing something wrong or missing a step somewhere. It isn't rocket science, it is a phone. Most people that choose an Android phone should have no trouble with setting up stuff like this. It is pretty basic.

The steps above are great, ive done them many times, but they don't actually result in change. The problem might lie with the AT&T Messages app that came pre-installed. I do like the app bc it converts my voicemails to mp3 for instant listening. And somewhere along the way i managed to change the tone that the app uses for (all) text notifications-- to something i now regret. But for the life of me I can't find where to change it again. I know this is a really old thread, but the question still pertains.

My daughter has an S5 Neo and I have just an S5. I can customize my contacts with their personal text notifiction tone but she can't. The option isn't there like mine is. On my contact detail page I can click on a little pencil on top right and edit the ring tone/notificcation tone for that person. Her contact detail page doesn't give her the option to change the tone for that person.
