Custom ringtones question

I know about setting ringtones for each person in my contacts but I'm not seeing a way to have the phone always ring for certain contacts, even if muted. Is this an option with Jelly Bean or something I'll have to look at from a third party app?

Still digging for an answer to this one.

Just got a new promotion at work and there is no set schedule. I have to find a way to get my phone to ring for certain contacts, even if muted for the evening while I am asleep. I've looked at several ringtone/volume "managers" and just didn't see anything that was very clean or didn't have some kind of an issue and had me missing calls etc.

Any suggestions or is there still a setting I am not seeing since Jelly Bean that allows something such as this? Would be great if the contacts I have added as favorites within my contacts were able to be grouped to always allow calls via the stock phone dialer but I am not seeing it.

Check out an app called SemiSilent in the Google Play Store. There is a free and a pro version. It allows you to check each contact you want to pass through even if phone is muted.

Semi silent hasn't been updated since October 2011 for the pay version (April. 2011) for the free version. Also in the newest comments on the pay version the users are complaining of bugs or the app not working with the GS3 and Note. I'll have to pass on this one and keep looking for a solution. Thank you for the suggestion though. This is probably the only feature that makes me jealous of my wife's iPhone.

I have the Free Semi Silent version on my SG3 and it works just fine. Only way for you to know is to try it. I have a few different apps that haven't been updated for over a year but even on 4.1.1 they work as written. I just won't pay for any apps that haven't been updated since Ice Cream at the least.

Auto Ring by Kevin Yuan doesn't seem to have any issues that cause me to miss a call. Two things I've noticed with it though are:

On phone call, ringer set to silent and someone on whitelist calls. Their ringtone blares in my ear over the voice of the current call I'm on.
Also if someone on whitelist calls while phone is on silent causing phone to ring, I am unable to silence the ringer by pressing the volume down button like I normally do. Have to manually reject the call or ride it out.
