Custom ROM or Stock?

While I wait for the GNexus to be released into my grubby hands, I'm browsing the different ROM threads for the Verizon version. Coming from a Hero, I've had this thing rooted for a long while and have tried a lot of custom ROMs. I like the vanilla-ish environment CM provides with all the added functions (plus it makes the Hero functional). I've never tried ICS but it looks really cool just stock. I'm wondering though if I'll miss all the extra functions CM9 or AOKP might provide.
Being that the GNexus is a huge step up from the Hero, I'll probably just be happy with stock for a while. Having a phone that just "works" would be fantastic for me. Although, I am a flashaholic and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm running CM9 or AOKP after a month or so.
What are you guys planning? Root and ROM on day 1 or keep it stock?

I thought i'd leave it stock for several months b/c of the pure Android experience.

That attitude lasted 9 days. ;)

I've been using rooted stock since I bought the phone...I only used a mod to zip align. Everything else is out of the box. No reboots, no lag, no problems.

I've been stock for a while, then went to AOKP, and now I'm running probably the only JB ROM for the Sprint GNex.

I bought my GNex from an XDA forum member and it was already rooted running AOKP so I had mine at stock for a total of zero days.....lol

I'm on a custom ROM. R U Jellin RC3. It is so smooth and jelly bean :-)

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Android Central Forums

They have fixed a lot of the issues in the latest version of that ROM. The latest version RC3 is built from ASOP and not ported from the IO models. Because of that you'll need to do a full wipe before you flash it, don't try to flash dirty.

RC3 is for the most part perfect. I think the only reason why I'd change is to go to AOKP or CM10 for the customizations.

Actually the latest is M1 (Milestone) and, although I haven't used it yet, it is supposed to fix compass, MMS. ;)
