Customer reviews of the Note 8

Not really sure why my post got moved to "Customer Reviews" when links are more media reviews... but that's cool.

This thing is beastly! Mine just arrived this morning. I used a display unit at the Samsung Experience here in NYC but now that mine has arrived and I've had a few hours to use it and I'm definitely happy that I brought it. Coming from a Note 5 and having all the previous Notes (except for the 1st Gen) it feels familiar but new at the same time which is a good thing. S Notes has changed to Samsung Notes so Action Memo isn't there anymore along with a lot of the other S Note functions so you'll have to find the APK and install it.

There seems to be a big issue with the placement of the Finger Print Scanner but I don't see it as an issue at all. I'm an average size guy with average size hands (8.5 inches) and I can reach it with no problems. I will post more as I get more time with the device. Especially on the subject of "Infamous Battery Life" I have a Gear S3 Frontier and use a Bluetooth headset at work and at the gym it'll be put to the test.

What carrier is your's from?

Sounds like no one is that excited on the secondary camera and no one really liking the live focus quality. I think the LG may get the win in the camera department category this year with its wide angle lens if V30 camera performs.

Mr Mobile had good things to say about the secondary camera. He's usually pretty picky

Just 1 question, how will you unlock you phone when it is placed on the table?
Why would you want to unlock your phone when it's sitting on a table? If I'm unlocking my phone, I plan on using it. Can't use it while it's sitting on a table.

Nah I don't believe it. Let's wait for display mate to test V30 and see which one comes out on top.

Even absent a removable battery and based on all I've read I believe the V30 will improve on the V20 as that phone improved on the quirky yet powerful V10. The V20's wide angle camera captures vistas (shore and mountains) so well.

I never concern myself with what the benchmarking sites say, if it looks good to me that's all I care about. I definitely want to check this phone out. The wide angle on my V20 and G6 gave me some of my best hiking pictures, and the phones themselves were no slouch either.

Anyway back on topic... To all you lucky people who unboxed your phones today, what's the verdict?

What I do with my S8+ is double-tap the home button and then look at it so it recognizes my irises. That works so well that I rarely need to use the fingerprint scanner.

I often have my phone propped up on the homemade charging stand on my desk. WIth that arrangement, I only need to use one hand to wake my phone instantly if there's something quick I need to check.

Re: Note 8 reviews

Price, size, and the thought of it being a hardly superior version of an S8+ seem to be the downfalls most reviews have. Upon first seeing the device it definitely looked massive. But after looking at it side by side to my iPhone 7+, it's marginally larger by maybe a few mm at most. Once mine shows up I'll get used to it.

I like the AC editor's review. I feel like he hit the target audience as far as who the device is marketed towards and what makes it a stellar device. Exactly my thoughts that it's not the premium device for a total Android purist, but still a great device.

I don't get the size issues - the phone is taller than my Note 4, but is not as wide. Personally I would prefer the phone to be taller and as wide as my Note 4. Then again I have big hands.
