Customised ringtones and text message received tones - how do you do it on a P20 pro.

Seems pretty trivial and something that was easy to do on much older phones. But I can change the ringtone for individual people, to almost anything I want. No problems at all. I go to contacts - edit the contact and add a ringtone.

But how do I change that same individual's text message tone?

I am sure it is easy, but you can't "add a field" to add "text messaging" or anything like that. I have done it on my S7, but I needed a third party app. I really didn't want to do a third party app if possible, because this seems so super trivial and easy to fix.

Ideas?

Unfortunately it's not trivial, and depends 100% on the messaging app. Samsung users went into a frenzy for a while after the Oreo update removed that option for the messaging app. Eventually they brought it back, but if your phone doesn't have it (which would explain why you could on the S7 but not on this), then you would need a 3rd party app that supports thread/user ringtones for texts like Textra.
