Custum Recovery will not Work

I need help, my phone has been unlocked and is rooted.But i can not reboot into recovery. I first tried downloading clockworkmod recovery, that didn't work, and then i tried twrp recovery and that didn't work either. When i try to reboot into recovery the white screen with the HTC logo in the center pops up and just stays there forever loading. I need help[ as to how i fix this please!!!

Go back to Square 1, you erased/did something you weren't supposed to. Relock the bootloader, run the RUU, unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery again, but this time, make sure the bar in the top right corner of the Vivid goes up and the command prompt tells you it successfully wrote over the stock recovery.
