was looking at instructions for flashing cwm over at Droid-life. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/15/how-to-root-the-galaxy-nexus-4g-lte-and-flash-custom-recovery-verizon/ is it really necessary to use adb to flash it, or could i just root my phone, install ROM manager and flash it through there?

I would use adb it's really not that hard just takes some time I have had nothing but probs with Rom manager in most cases just my oppion

I've generally had OK luck with ROM Manager, sometimes you have to flash a few times and reboot but usually it's OK.

I'd probably do with the adb in this case if you haven't used it before. It's not hard as the previous poster said and its' good to have some working knowledge of it since it's a life saver if and when you do screw up your phone and need to fix it.

Besides, after you get CWM installed there isn't really much left to do since I don't think there are any LTE specific custom ROMs out yet.

If you use DL instructions you have to use adb to push. There is the superboot method that doesn't require it.

I would google "easy adb" and get adb.exe and fastboot.exe in a folder that I could open command prompt from. Getting the right drivers for the phone to communicate to PC can be a pain but if ever you suffer a soft brick, using fastboot and adb is the only sure way to restore, so learn it now!!

It is necessary to push the recovery with adb, because you must boot into CWM to flash the su.zip to gain root, which then allows ROM manager privilages to flash. The recovery is also replaced after boot, so you need to go BACK into ROM manager and reflash recovery again.

Edit: Here is tutorial for getting adb and fastboot: http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/mot...windows-7-64-bit-other-windows-platforms.html

Stop once you get to Development, unless you want to develop
