So in reading the forums and posts over at XDA, the Cyanogen 7 build is posted as being basically ready to go. Everything works. So I had a couple of questions.

#1-Has anyone else installed this on their phone and what have you thought?
#2-Do I install this with CWM 3.0 or can 2.5 work?

I will start with that for now, but I am sure things will need to get answered. Hopefully this can be helpful because the original thread has more than 250 pages!

Flash it this morning, no issues so far.

To install: follow the directions in the OP of JT's thread on XDA. You'll need his recovery flashed first. Reports are that using the Odin version works out best, because it will overwrite your existing CWM. If you use the flashable recovery, you will have both versions, meaning the 3-finger salute will get you into your old CWM, and using ADB reboot recovery or the power options will get you into the new one.

Once you have flashed the new recovery, you can flash the ROM just like any other: wipe cache, dalvik, and data; flash ROM; flash GAPPS

The only issue I have noticed so far is the in-call volume. I can hear the people I'm talking to just fine, but everyone I have talked to can barely hear me. Hopefully that is something that will be addressed. I'm weighing whether or not that merits going back to UKB or not

I remember my other question, does this do a complete wipe of my data? If not, I will back up my data with Titanium Backup but do you think there will be any problems with restoring my files and apps?

I have no real idea for sure but in my experience it will wipe and you probably want to if not. It is always better to start with a clean slate when doing new ROMs (dcache, cache, data wipe)

Yes, you will need to wipe everything: data, cache, and dalvik cache.

You can restore apps with Titanium, just make sure you don't restore any system apps or system info. Since you will be going from a Froyo build to a Gingerbread build, the system files are different

I would be curious to know if others have been experiencing the same in call volume issue.

No In call issue for me....been on it for a few days. No real Crazy issues at all. Im loving it actually. easiest way to flash it, Odin the CWM http://tinyurl.com/3lbymxv boot str8 to this with 3 finger, Wipe big 3 than flash this update-cm-7.1.0-Fascinate-KANG-0717-signed.zip also same session flash gapps here http://tinyurl.com/3j5o8p5 I would also flash the new glitch kernel choose one of the kernels here is his post [KERNEL][CM7/MIUI][16/07/11] Glitch V11.1 final -1.7GHz OC/UV-Voodoo-Smooth and fast - xda-developers This kernel is unreal!!! Makes my fassy fly. Happy flashing.

I also just converted. I will always love me some KangBang, but thus far I am very very happy.

Did the same procedure as bigjobber69 with no real issues (had to wipe and reflash when my Wifi wasn't working - relfash and works fine and I had to flash the Gapps a couple times to get it to work)

I did a fair bit of reading and from what I understand the process would have been a bit more complicated a week ago, but it was ez pz. I wiped everything and restored apps + app data via Titanium and no issues. Seems to run very well - not a single issue on my end so far (except that you can't charge with the power off as it reboots - w/e)

I was going to try the Glitch kernel, I guess I'd start with the Low leakage and work my way up?
bigjobber69 have you done any adjustments to the clock speed or voltage yet?

I also went with the EC09 radio and it did increase my 3G speeds a bit, but GPS is slow to lock if at all so I may go back and try ED04. I think I'll be sticking with this for a while, but I always have a nandroid of CM 2.1 to fall back on.

Radio! Good question. So I read that the package only includes the Rom and Kernel. Because of that, since I already have the ED04 radio, will that stay on my phone or will I have to do something else?

The only comments/complaints i would level against the CM7 "rev 11" build is that 1) the BLN appears to be permanently turned on in the kernel, and I am pretty convinced that it is murdering my battery life. I used the GB leak and battery life was nothing short of incredible for the 2 weeks i ran it, and CM7 is dying as fast as any Froyo build ever did. I dont think its a CM7 thing, my wife has an Eris and sees amazing performance and battery life with CM7 even though thats a super old phone.

The other complaint is that with exchange email the password screen is back to being tied to the lock screen, i.e. if the lock screen is active it will make you put in your pin. You can set this as high as 30 minutes, but in the mean time pressing the power or volume keys wakes the phone to the desktop with no lock screen at all. They let you set different lock-screen timeouts for a power button screen-off vs an idle screen-off which is nice, but having no lock screen just feels weird, and I did almost pocket-email someone i work with a bunch of garbage due to it coming alive in my pocket without realizing it.

Almost forgot one more thing; almost every call that i don't hang up (i.e. if the other caller hangs up first) will cause the phone to register "signal lost". Not a big deal just annoying.

Radio should stay the same (mine did).

I'm going to keep things asis for a while, but I'll likely go back to ED04 if the GPS locking becomes an issue. I'll try the Glitch kernel too at some point I just don't know that I need it. Besides o'clocking what does it offer over the one that comes with CM7?

Try the ED09 radio. Very stable for me and no 3G issues. As far as Glitch Kernal you can go here and read the changelog and get others opinons on it.

[KERNEL][CM7/MIUI][16/07/11] Glitch V11.1 final -1.7GHz OC/UV-Voodoo-Smooth and fast - xda-developers

Cool yeah I'm trying it now :) (addicted) I hope the kernel that shipped with CM7 is available somewhere in case I want to go back? Hopefully I won't need that info.

ED09 where can you find that? Is it directly flashable via Odin or CW?

*Noticed an odd thing I wasn't expecting - got an email from Google welcoming me as a new Nexus S owner. Odd I thought, but I guess in the CM7 it's "acting" like I'm a Nexus S so ... went to market BAM there's Netflix - installed it DOUBLE BAM it works! Great! I was going to cancel either streaming or the DVD plan - this makes the decision very easy. :D

Has the ED09 radio been posted? I haven't seen it anywhere although I haven't really looked because any part of ED09 scares me because of the SD card issue.

the ED09 radio wont do anything to your SD card.... it is the ED09 based ROMs that have been causing some SD cards to get fried...

you can download the ED09 modem from my dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25224224/ec09-modem.tar.md5

flash in ODIN

So if this version of Cyanogen is picked up and put into their system and what not, will they be using ROM Manager to update the Roms? And how does that all work if anyone has had experience with it?

You say ED09, but I see EC09 (which is what I am using) are they the same thing then?

I was wondering this as well - I know currently ROM Manager doesn't work for the Fascinate, but I hope that it can in the future. It would be nice to have access to "nightlies". It seems that quite soon discussion/support will be transfered from XDA to the CM forums.

Come a long way from the phone that I thought was going to be stuck with Eclair and I never thought we'd get CM. Very cool.

My bad... I responded quicker than I should have... over thought the question and confused myself apparently!

Yes, that is EC09....sorry

Yah I'm set up to 1.2 oc -75 across the board except 100 and 200 I have -100 UV. I reccomend thus kernel to all it freakin flies! However battery hasn't been great for me but as soon as glitch puts out an update we can all wipe r stats and then really test how the battery is.
