Cyanogen 7

Just couldn't resist installing CM7. Everything went well once I realized that the search button is the "this is my selection" button in blue CWM.
Installed it as well, used the HL Glitch version. Only issues I find so far is I don't have recovery in the power button menu and ROM Manager won't see the clockworkmod I odined.

Weird, I don't have the reboot to recovery option the power button menu either. Everything is working with the ROM though, so I'm not really sure what to make of it....

If you choose the Reboot option you should have a submenu offering recovery or regular.

this - I missed this too till I wanted to reboot normally

So in Blue CW if you hit Search does it automatically execute your selection? I'll have to avoid that - noticed also that back is actually back now instead of the menu button.

Also I'm relatively certain the ROM manger does not work (yet?) for our Fascinates. Hopefully soon.

There are 3 or 4 relatively minor issues, but so far they can be lived with. The only one that bugs me is the phone call issue and I rarely use this as a phone ;).

I couldn't resist installing either and I may wait it out a day or so to see if any of the nightly build fix the phone issue. I use my phone a lot and really cannot be without it for too long.

So for those who have installed it, what are you preliminary reports? I want to take the plunge and just do it but I am really nervous. Also, does it have TSM parts or Sbrissen's lockscreens?

I guess what I mean is that in previous CWM versions I pressed the return icon to make a menu selection. This version you use the search icon to do that. You still get the confirm dialog.

So far it is a good ROM. No real complaints from my end with the following exception.
No one can hear me well when I speak on the phone. This is a known issue.

I like the new calendar a LOT! It has more functionality than the stock app.
It is cool that when my phone is locked, the soft keys light up when I get a new notification.
I don't see TSM parts but Spare parts and CyanogenMod settings are included.

The phone is VERY smooth to operate and I have not updated my kernel yet.

Can only retrieve while using MOBILE data, not via wifi. My radio (wifi and 3g) seem to cut in and out at will. The icons turns white but only transfer data while lit up bright green. I think this is only an issue w/ the Glitch kernel. Semi frustrating, nothing a quick reboot doesn't take care of yet. Trying to find a work around.

Does this have the SD card wipe problem???

Haven't had this problem yet. Using an old 8gb card for my testing. Other XDA members are having success using formatting via CMW as oppose to android format or windows format.

It is suggested from the dev team to always mount and dismount your as card properly to avoid this issue. Good luck.

PS - Here are my current uV and CPU settings, solid as a rock. Receiving 2300ish scores on quadrant. Which is more then I was getting using com Rom 2.1 @ 1400Mhz. Phone feels much more snappy during normal use and I'm getting better battery life as well. :)

Using Glitch kernel ML.

Just took the plunge - went here, and missing features UGB already. I still use backup assistant. Anyone provide instructions on how to get it back? Thanks in advance.

DANG! So do I. Quite honestly, that is what is going to stop me from making the plunge. There is one thing I don't like about Google's contacts and that is that it randomly takes your contacts and then adds them to your other accounts. Its just really annoying. Its almost impossible to control. Anyway, I will see if there is any instructions.

I used to not like google controlling my contacts until I took a solid few hours and organized everything on my google.com/contacts. It's still in "beta" but it allows u to merge data, import address books, and creates a centralized more reliable place to keep my contacts.

I'm a rom/kernel whore and need to re-flash a lot, without this it would be almost impossible to get my phone back on track (since it is a PHONE, need it to make calls) in reasonable amount of time.

You can ALSO use "syncmypics" app to download your contacts photos via facebook/twitter, cache them to your SD, and link them to your google.com/contacts. Then your photos are there once and for all instead of needing a contact data feed from facebook or another photos link/sync service.

Sorry guys. None of the VCast apps, including Backup assistant can be installed on CM. The same will be said of OMFGB when it's ready. If you like CM, consider it incentive to get used to using Google to do its thing.

I've been using JT's build it first launched. The fixes and improvements have happened at an impressive rate. As much as I have nothing against TW, in fact I think I like some features better than Sense, CM7 was the one thing I missed from my DInc.

One thing that I did not see mentioned in this discussion yet is that tethering does not yet work. Give it time with the weight of an official build it's only a matter of time!
