CyanogenMod 7 getting closer!

Just my opinion, no offense to those that disagree:

As an OG owner, and CM nightlies updater for almost a whole year, making the switch to a new dev team was needed on my Droid after several problems I experienced with the ROM.

I am really excited to hear Cyanogenmod is making its debut on Thunderbolt, and I will be giving it a try.

However, I really feel that Tesla Coil is the best ROM as of now, and wish it got some of the publicity Cyan is getting (wired, zdnet, lifehacker, gizmodo, etc...)

Competition is the best thing for the consumer, so either way, welcome Cyanogenmod. Even if you have the WORST product name of all time. (are all those syllables really needed?!?)

Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt using Tapatalk. Eat Snacky Smores.

because it is a scratch built AOSP ROM with superior fit and finish. Incredible number of extras to personalize the UI. Support for over a dozen phones.

not to sound stupid although i probablly do lol. what exactly is cm7? and what does it do?

Don't feel bad, everyone was a noob at one point. CM7 is Cyanogenmod 7, you can visit www.cyanogenmod.com to learn more but it is by many considered to be the gold standard of ROM's

I have used it on my DInc in the past, I do look forward to it on the TB, but in the meantime I am playing with Lighting Sense and Tesla Coil and I will be donating to both of them regardless since they are doing great work.

Devs have lives too, which is why I always look for the paid apps, oppty's to donate and in general put forth positive feed back when its due. If not for the Devs, I would be on a i*hone and we all know what that is like :-!

This is what I have been waiting to hear! My annual upgrade is this May, I plan to buy a TBolt at that time. Looks like CM7 will be ready around that same time. Can't Wait!

I tried cm7 on my gf's Dinc and honestly it wasn't for me.

Is there something I'm missing that makes this ROM awesome?

This, but it is pretty much the main/#1 rom that is built for phones from source. There are others that come out with from source roms (but they mostly go from what cm does and then add their own lil things to it after cm does the hard work) but i only have knowledge of maybe 1 other rom that's from scratch that the devs do tons of work on themselves vs tweaks like others. All the roms out right now for the TB and what others use, are only kitchen roms. They are just already system roms that have been tweaked. These kitchen roms, while good to tide people, aren't for me. I want a full on 3rd party from scratch rom or OEM.

FINALLY- got my TB today, I cant friggin wait for some CM7 love... I own a Dinc and am heavily involved in the CM7 thread for Dinc... I cant wait to be a part of an "official" thread when one does and WILL come up ;)

I read through this whole thread (as I do every thread before I comment) and ZERO NECK is spot on about it....

**Removed for having used google to find the answer to a rather dumb question ;)**

I'm going to be sticking with BAMF for awhile, I'm very happy with it.

I'll wait until CM7 is nearly perfected!
