Cyanogen's Nightly Builds

I have the screen brightness very very low, but the sistem is telling me that its using 85% of my battery. Is that normal? Am I the only one?

I've noticed this same thing on every froyo build I've used. I think that Google has optimized the OS significantly in 2.2, such that it uses much less power. By contrast, you can't really optimize a screen's battery usage- thus the screen is still sucking down the same amount of power as in 2.1, but compared to the OS it is a larger percentage of total draw.

An example:
You have 5 apples and 5 oranges in a bag. 50% of the bag is apples and 50% is oranges. If you eat three apples the bag is now 71% oranges and 29% apples. The number of oranges hasn't changed, it just makes up a larger percentage of the bag's contents. Your screen is the oranges, Android is the apples.

Just a guess though.
(insert "comparing apples to oranges" joke here)

What does clearing cache and dalvik cache do? Will I lose any important app data? Sorry I always wondered this but never could figure out.

Just back your data up. And uh, IDK what all it clears, because I always clear all my caches and stuff at the same time, so pretty much just apps n app data and anything else on your phone that wasn't there when you got the phone. So yeah. It clears everything If you wipe everything.

is anyone else seeing not as great battery life with these builds?

i mean, i've been getting OK battery but before root (after OTA) i was getting amazing battery time.

i pulled my phone off the charger this morning at 7:45 am. it's 3:45p and I only have 48% battery with extremely light usage. not a big deal as i always have access to a charger but was just curious if it was just me.

I'm seeing the same problem... Last night's nightly was supposed to fix whatever was killing the battery but I haven't seen a difference.

I been using setcpu to underclock when not in use and it made a bit of a difference before but it I am still getting horrible battery life.

Uninstall It. My battery has really improved by uninstalling it

Cyanogen said on the XDA thread that something was wrong with the 7/24 battery as well.

Someone was like "I'm getting worse battery than 7/23"
And he said "I hope so" and then he said something about a problem or something.

Sorry I'm being vague...
