Cyanogen's Nightly Builds

Haha you didn't really need super tech skills for the nightlies but yeah the RC1 is supposed to be more stable so it would be good to flash!

Can someone that has flashed/loaded RC1 advise on whether or not 4g/Wimax is working? I'm in a 4g area and would like the ability to use it where service is available.

ok so i've read a ton about rc1 and am seeing people saying they need these fb sync files and market fixes.

i have not flashed rc1 b/c the nightly i'm running hasn't had issues with these two things.

am i the only one who hasn't needed these? my fb contact pictures have synced without issues from the first nightly and still sync fine. also, the issue with protected apps FOR ME was fixed with the 7/25 build. i can confirm this b/c when i flashed my first nightly i searched for fring and could not find it. i searched for fring last night and found it and many others i could not find before.

just wondering if there's something i might be missing or might be unaware of. i guess i got concerned when someone over at xda said if you haven't applied the fix then you don't have it? all i've got going on right now is cm6 nightly 7/25, radios, and gapps.

i'm still running 7/25 wondering if i should just stick with the nightlies or get on board with the rc1.

edit: i also do a full wipe before flashing any new rom, even if it's just another nightly. i guess it's probably from bootloop memories from the hero.

Then you should be fine.
If you have any doubts, nand backup and restore if something went wrong.

However, my market works fine. I don't sync FB contacts and stuff, so I don't know about that.

RC1 means release candidate 1, yes? Does this mean that it is up and ready for flashing without super tech skills?

Well, check out the thread on XDA:

There are a couple steps. If you know how to flash a zip file, you should be fine.
Also, while you're in recovery... do a nand backup. OR use Rom Recovery to do it for you.

I've went through the change log, but really I can't tell what the big difference is between the RC1 and any other nightly. Was there a big improvement in stability or something? What am I missing that makes this better than other nightlies, other than it's one step close to being an official release now?

I haven't noticed any change from the last nightly, 7-26, to the RC 1. If there is a new nightly tonight I will continue flashing them! It seems stable but again I don't notice any change. I used the Facebook fix and can confirm it does sync but it doesn't automatically put profile pictures as their contact picture. I don't know if that's just messed up for me or what. And to answer a question from earlier the RC does NOT have 4G/Wimax.

Does anyone know the label of the color Cyanogen uses for the home screen tip guy? I wanna make it my status bar color and I can't seem to pinpoint it! Thanks!

Hey guys just one quick question I have cm6 installed and the google apps zip file on my sd card but how do I get the google apps installed on to my phone?

flash it in recovery. If your using clock work, its the install zip from sd card option.

There is an RC up for CM6 for Evo? And I noticed if you plug your phone into your PC it doesnt automatically make it a USB connection default anymore.

There wasn't really a big difference. The nightly builds happen every night no matter what. RC1 came out because Cyanogen felt like the code had reached a fairly stable point for more wide spread testing. I think there was like one small commit between the nightly build and rc1.

And there isn't any more difference between rc1 and the next nightly than there was between most of the nightly builds.

Yeah, I'm definitely not seeing anything different or changed in the 7-27 nightly from the RC1. Did anyone notice the Places app in the builds before? For some reason I just now noticed it and I didn't know if it was there before or not.

Places was added by the latest Google maps update.

I'll wait a bit before I flash another Cyanogen build. Flashing everyday is a hassle sometimes.
Anyway, there's a new nightly 7/28... so has anyone tried it?

It's probably Cyan, lol.. http://www.computerhope.com/htmcolor.htm
