Can you use the dac using the USB C type plugged into a USB port? I just had my audio system upgraded in my car and I want to make sure I'm listening to the best audio source

From my understanding the Quad DAC only routes audio through the 3.5mm jack. Using the USB C out will either use the DAC in your head unit (designed with CDs in mind) or the DAC on the Qualcomm SoC. But not to worry, as long as the aux port is grounded well in your car and you use a good quality aux cable (made of OFC) then you'll have crystal clear sound output even at high volumes.

The USB port in your car doesn't play nice with Android for audio.

Well, chances are there isn't a single car or head unit that supports the USB Audio spec yet... It wasn't finalized until last year. If your gear and your phone both supported USB-Audio, it'd be clearly the best option as it would be providing the sound system with an unmodified digital signal.

So since that isn't an option, the best signal you can get out of your phone will be the best one you can send to your car. You won't need it to be amplified, of course, just clean... So push it out the HQ audio mode.

probably best to get a USB flash drive and insert that into your new head unit. hopefully it can play lossless like flac.

you can maybe try putting your phone into MTP mode and it'll become a flash drive

otherwise use usbc to 3.5mm audio dongle.

False, the sound quality would only be as good as the DAC within the head unit. Since the V30 at the moment has a top of the line DAC using the auxiliary in would still be the best option.

Any decent head unit is going to have a DAC that's better than what's in the V30. And presumably this will all be getting sent to an external amplifier, which is going to be better off getting sent a non-amplified signal.

Still false as a majority of the DACs in the head units are designed with CDs in mind. Which means support for 16/44.1 and not much else. The V30 supports up to 32bit/384khz and MQA.

Like I said, to my knowledge, there aren't any head units that even support USB-Audio at the moment. If/when that happens, they will also most likely incorporate DACs that support more bit and sample rates than what is currently supported.

I was speaking hypothetically... But my overall point is that the best input you can pick is the most unaltered from it's source.

The signal via aux is still unaltered, all that happens is the conversion of of the signal from digital to analog. There's some amplification but that's so the new signal can be heard.
