"Damaged SD card"...

Ran out of space to move things over to SD card (in preperation for a hard reset) so I purchased a 32gb SD card from Best Buy.Copied everything on to laptop folder marked "old SD card". Put the new SD card in computer and "moved" everything from "old SD card" file to new one. Put in phone and I get "damaged SD card" message. Gives the option of reformating but warns I might loose all data!
What does all this mean, please?! HELP, PLEASE!!!

Try putting the card back in your laptop and move the files back, then format the card in fat32. Copy the files back to the card then insert it in the phone and see what happens.

No, just took it out of package, inserted it into reader and put it in my laptop to transfer my stuff. (Not very "tech savy", as you can probably tell)

best thing is to back up everything on your computer and then put the card in the S3, then go to settings > storage and scroll down to format SD card. Once this is completed unmount the card and sitck it in your computer again, reload all of your files onto it. Make sure you eject the card from the computer properly (usually in your system tray close tot he clock you will have an option to do so safely) and then put the card back in your S3 you should be golden. Improperly ejecting the card or an invalid format could be the reason why your card is showing as damaged. There could be an issue with the file system.

I don't know how to post a new thread, just to let you know. I just joined this to show you guys what's been going on.
Okay, so for a while now, I've had this 32 GB SD card. And well, it ing sucks ass. My music constantly skips, it always closes out of my apps, like that. I'm getting ing tired of it. I'm so beyond frustrated that I'm about to literally take my phone and smash it. I'm not kidding, I'm that pissed. Every time I turn it on, it says "Damaged SD Card. May need to reformat." Which I know damn well I don't need to reformat it and it's not damaged at all. I get this every morning, and then out of not where my music player says "Sorry, does not support this type of file." I'm like, what the ? I don't get how to fix this and I'm beyond done with this. My god, smart and technology people, god forbid please ing help me. I use an LG Optimus.

First suggestion would be to look in the LG Optimus forum rather than the Samsung Galaxy S III forum - each phone has its own quirkiness and what may be a good solution on one phone may not necessarily be the best solution on another.

With that said, generally your best bet is to format any SDCard in the phone before use. Once that's done you should be able to connect your phone to a Mac/PC and copy files between the two with no problems. Or use an application that allows you to use a wireless connection to copy files. I wouldn't recommend smashing the phone as an optimal solution :banghead:

I put my SD card in my laptop via an adapter after this same problem and was able to recover SOME of my data by running chkdsk /drive: /F. I have learned my lesson though.. backup, backup, backup!
