Dangerous to Buy "Rushed" to Market Nexus?

I'm not usually an early adopter, but I am really considering getting the Nexus. In your opinion, is it dangerous to get a first batch Nexus, i.e. on opening day/weekend? Is Samsung/Verizon rushing things through to get it to market? Is it possible that we'll get stuck with an inferior device, i.e. with Apple's initial antenna issues on the iPhone 4, etc.? I know it would be difficult, but would we be better off to wait until after Christmas? Any thoughts?

This is far from rushed, it's late. And this isn't apple, Google will actually fix problems with real solutions.

I'd put it to you like this...if you want something bad enough you will be an early adopter of the products. There are going to be bugs regardless but something tells me that it will be fine for the most part. In case you're wondering...I will be an early adopter of this phone. Someone has to be.

adopting early is part of the experience. this phone will be "awesome" to begin with, and will generally only get "better" as time goes on.

On top of that, you have at most 7 weeks to use the device given VZW's holiday return policy in case something is truly found to be lacking or horribad-broken, which btw is 5 more weeks than usual..

It's not rushed and there's nothing wrong with the phone, it's just not a Droid/bloatfilled device, so it's nothing they are all that interested in selling. They're not specifically against it, they just don't see the value in it that they see in other devices that they have more control over.

I agree with this. I had 2 Bionics and both of them starting problems right out of the gate. Weeks after my issues were posted other people started to have the same issues. Having over a month to work things out is going to be much better then 14 days, incase something were to go wrong.

I was a early adopter of the Motorola Xoom and paid for it. That's just how it goes but, I think this phone won't be the same experience. There will no doubt be issues but, as long as it's taken, I would think a lot of the major ones have been worked out.

When we get this phone and, it has no major issues, I will be very happy with Verizon. That might mean they really did put it through some good tests and, at least had the consumer somewhat in mind.

Rushed? I don't think this device has been rushed. If it was rushed we would have it by now, haha.

But seriously, the phone has been in development for a year now. I hardly call that rushed.

If this is rushed...

No need to worry as Google can update the Nexus on the fly because updates are sent directly from their servers.

You should definitely wait....that will put me one spot closer to the front of the line. However, after I get mine, the danger has passed and you are ok to buy.

I think this might be the wrong place to ask. Most people on this forum have been browsing it nonstop the past few weeks looking for any solid news...

And I'm not really worried because it's a Nexus. I wouldn't be an early adopter of the Razr or Rezound, but I know that I'll be getting updates straight from Google.

Being one who got the Thunderbolt on launch day, I have no issue whatsoever with getting the "first batch" of this phone. In all likelihood it won't be the true first batch anyway. My Thunderbolt is hardware version 002 even though I was the 4th person in line on launch day.

They have been working on this for a while so definately not rushed. Just get it and if you have issues take it back.

HAHAHAHAHA

DON'T
CALL
IT
RUSHED!!!!

I don't know about anybody else, but I have been waiting OVER SIX MONTHS FOR THIS THING, most of which were spent without ANY phone at all! This device has been ANYTHING but rushed! It'd better be polished like diamonds!

btw.. according to verizon you are allowed to do this ONCE, I have already done it (used it on returning an iphone 4) so I (and im guessing many others) don't have this luxury.

IMO there's no optimal time to buy a phone. If you don't buy it on the launch day you risk being stuck with an inferior phone for 2 years (as in not the absolute latest and greatest). But if you buy it on the release date you risk, although not as much so, the "early adopter" case, where there may be some issues with the device that you have to put up with as a result of being said early adopter. However I trust that the Galaxy Nexus will not run into these "early adopter" problems, as Google and Samsung have clearly put a TON of time and effort into making this phone the best it can be. I would not worry about the early adopter thing, as the cost (not $) of buying it late is much greater in the long run.

This is not rushed at all. Not to mention it is a nexus so it will get updates right away to fix any bugs( although there doesn't seem to be many from the early reviews)

Well, the Bionic was announced in January and launched in September, so it wasn't exactly rushed either, and there were still some initial issues.

That said, I pre-ordered my D2 on the first day it was available, and I didn't have any problems...
