Dark mode - is it a big deal to you?

The only thing I don't like about the new dark mode so far is that I have a few apps where pictures in the notifications are inverted color while dark mode is enabled. Not all apps, just some

Because the pictures are probably dark and dark against dark (if it's black against black) is invisible. They still have some kinks to work out in the AI part. It doesn't know the difference between a dark picture and black print on a black screen. (Maybe they should just put a thin white border around it.)

I like the option. Given the choice, I usually go with dark mode. I absolutely hated booting my phone first thing in the morning and facing that white screen at 100% brightness. A big deal? I'm not sure what that is. I like the option but with GMail, the web version has dark mode but I prefer the features in the GMail app even without a dark mode.

Personally I hated when Android adopted material design and everything became white. It doesn't look good and causes faster battery drain. The moment Samsung introduced themes back in 2015 I downloaded a dark theme and haven't gone back.

You're right that whiter backgrounds/OS causes faster battery drain. That's one reason why I prefer Dark Mode.

Dark mode for me at first, I couldn't understand why. The first argument I heard was for OLED. Better battery life. It got me starting to use it. Now since I probably do a lot of reading at night, I find if an app doesn't have dark mode, I won't use it then now, since it hurts my eyes.

I really enjoy dark mode now. OneUI has dark mode and have loved it. I can't wait for all of Google services to get it.

Yeah, dark mode on the eyes is much easier, is much easier on battery life, Overall it's just a great change. And we're all still waiting for Gmail and Google assistant to be dark mode should be sometime soon.

I will like that when the release it!

I can't say it's easier on my eyes unless I am in a dark room, which I don't do (so it's useful during the random night I wake up and have to check something on my phone for some reason).

That said, I think it looks sleeker overall and I will say it again, I LOVE that the boot-up screen is no longer blastingly bright as if to guide airplanes down on a foggy night.

Yep I agree. Like I said, dark mode is easy on the eyes especially nighttime.

Yeah... I guess... I mean, my point was for me this is "easier on the eyes" *only* if I'm looking at my screen in the dark, a very very niche situation since this is not something I would do unless I've been sleeping and wake up and have to check something (like a few nights ago, my email bc I panicked that I didn't do something... Ironically Gmail doesn't have nightmode, but it would have been nice)... But this a a very particular and rare situation . Otherwise, at night, I don't sit in the dark. I use lamps and stuff, so I can see other things than my phone... like where I'm walking, or what I'm eating. Lol
