Am I the only one frustrated by the horrible software coming from head unit manufactures? I have seen a few threads here and there with guys who have mounted the old nexus 7 in cars and had some success. My question is, has anyone here done it?

The Exogear unit looks pretty good. I drive a truck for a living and would really like to have a good mount to use my N7 for Navigation

I don't think I was as clear as I should have been. I'm not looking to mount it with a mount. I want to custom mount it in the dash.

Are you asking if anyone has done it with the old or the new N7? If you're interested in the old, go look in the forum for the old model. I doubt anyone has done it with the new one, since it's barely been released.

Looks to me like it would have been trivially simple to include a Qi wireless charger in the dash adapter.

My N7 has iballz mini and will hang from the cup-holder in my Audi. However, when parked in the sun, heat will destroy tablets. I only need it for GPS and it usually sits on the passenger seat since I mostly use voice-navigation.

I use a RAM mount in my Mustang. It has a suction cup that attaches to the windshield and a longer shaft so the tablet mount just clears the edge of the dash. It has a spring loaded bit on one end and a solid bit on the other and really holds the tablet well. It has ball joints so I can angle it just right for me. I use it for navigation and remove it when I park anywhere.
