Data connectivity issues - stuck in 1x

I called tech support and they were clearly not trained to trouble shoot the Thunderbolt. 45 minutes later we had accomplished nothing so I went back to where I purchased the phone.

He reset the SIM in the system (which is one of the things the tech support guy at least claimed to be doing) and voila...I now have 3G and 4G.

Those of you with 1X connectivity, call tech support and ask them to completely reset your SIM.

If you can't get a data connection, pull the battery and try again. I couldn't get 4g and once I did that, no problems!

They've been on the phone with TS for the last 2hrs. Thank God for speakerphones.

u cant do *228

the rep i bought my fones from tried to do it on all 3 phones I bought

it doesnt work, it just says "call lost"

Duhhhh. I just called CS because I saw this thread and noticed i wasn't seeing 4G either. Got my case escalated pretty quickly and when the rep got on the phone I realized that I had WiFi on and connected.

I don't know if this helps those of you with problems, but of course its not going to connect to 3G or 4G while Wifi is fired up.

Here's another possible reason you may not get a 4G signal: the battery cover has to be on. The antenna his built into it. Took me 5 minutes to remember that. I had left it off after I had installed the SIM card and battery. Very unlikely anyone did that, but I did :/

my first tb on Thursday was doa. i did not get a data signal. it took a while but they finally gave me a new one.

btw i was in the corporate vw store for just over 3hrs trying to get my phone. first phone was broken. then they locked up my account and took 4 techs 3 hrs to get me my phone... was worth it in the end!

Ive had terrible data service all day. especially while driving. It seems the hand off between 4g and 3g is very slow. Takes forever to re-acquire a signal. Should i exchange my phone??

Back Must Be On!

hopefully I'm not an idiot, but I'd thought I'd share what happened to me. My Thunderbolt was also stuck in 1x data for about an hour after taking the battery out of my phone. So I called Customer Support, and they ran through their script with me with no success. Now here's the thing, during this whole time, the back plate was off my phone. After I put the back plate back on the phone, the 3G and 4GLTE connected with no problem!

So I gather from this, that those metal pieces on the back plate must be connected to the phone to give you that 3G/4G service.... maybe?

I'm still having issues with this. BB and Verizon have been no help. I really don't want to return it, but looks like it will happen
