Data is being used while using wifi

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon. I'm using wifi and my mobile data isn't turned on, but it's still getting used. Data has gone up .500+ when I'm connected to wifi. Why is this happening or how can I stop it?

Go to your settings and check what's using the data. If it's something like Dropbox or Google+ you can restrict background data and set to only backup/update over WiFi
