After update, your GTalk settings will revert back to the way they were when you first got the Evo (auto sign in etc). Go back into GTalk and in the settings, disable auto sign in, then log out. This was one of the initial battery hogs discovered at release.
Auto sign in only happens when you turn on the app. It's not the same as Fring's Auto Startup which starts up the app when you turn on your phone. It shouldn't affect battery unless you open Talk without knowing.
I say no. My camera and camcorder stopped working. My internet browser lags after loading a page for a few seconds, and first few swipes are very unresponsive after loading a page. My battery was down 50% after just 2 hours of VERY little use.

I had to call Sprint and they had to walk me through a hard reset because they got rid of the Privacy option in the Settings Menu.

I'd wait on it.
I didn't have any of those problems except for the camera. All of a sudden it worked after a bunch of tries and having it close. I heard LED light was a conflicting app. I deleted it anyway since there's the Flashlight app now.

Battery life WAY worse than before. Had no problems with battery before. This morning took off charger at 7:00 a.m. and now down to 57%. Checked my settings and they are all the same. Activity thus far has been re-downloading Swype, 10 text messages, 3-5 minutes of browsing. My settings look to be the same, but maybe I'm missing something?!??

Do a battery pull for atleast a minute. I was bleeding battery life last week (I have gtalk off, sprint zone off, ect). So I did a battery pull for atleast a minute and all this weekend I was getting really good battery life. For Example, I took my phone off the charger yesterday at 9 am. Didn't plug it in again until 10 am today and I was at 18%. Yesterday I did my basic facebook and twitter checking, good amount of texting, couple of emails. Then I applied the froyo update, then heavily used my phone for 2 hours after I applied the update. Then went to bed.

resetting up the sync settings helped a bit, but not totally fixed. there is still something locking something open on the phone
Someone mentioned about Flickr auto updating too at some point? I cant even find flickr as an app to change, so dont know how valid that is.

I am on .3 though.
Other then that the phone works marvelous!
I had the camera issue, but after a reboot it came back up.

Thanks I will give that a try and see what works. Battery has still been bleeding since logging out Gtalk and updating Sprint settings.

I love froyo thus far, phone seems even snappier, didnt help wifi as much as I had hoped, my battery life is about the same, which was good before the update

Also check the new news and weather app. Mine was set to sync every 6 hours. I turned it to manual update.

I am running .3 and my battery has got a lot better. I use to have to charge in the middle of the day and it would still be dead at the end of the day. Now with .3, I can skip the charging in the middle of the day and still have battery life at the end of the day. I use my phone all day long too. Maybe you guys are using it a lot more because you are testing out Froyo? Maybe it is the Flash web sites? Flash is very resource intensive.

I am actually using it less than usual this morning, which is why this is so frustrating. Was down to 30% by noon today and had to charge up at lunch, which I have never had to so since I have had my evo.

i have seen a huge hit in battery usage. I have Advanced task manager running, and when I was looking at it, Fring, Qik, messages, vmail were opened, and I didnt even open them to begin with. I think apps are starting up on thier own....

Have to say Nay because internet loading has been odd, page loading on a couple of sites I view often results in internet closing.

Also, iheartradio only works on wi-fi, used to work on 3G, 4G, and wi-fi.

Response and new apps however are welcome improvements.

Everything is running just fine for me. My battery was draining a little faster, but I changed my settings as mentioned, so hopefully everything will be back to normal.

I'm in the same boat as bassmanxu. My battery life has been abysmal since updating to 2.2 last night.

I've checked a ton of the settings, auto syncing, etc. Everything seems to be correct. I'm about to try a battery pull and see if that helps.

i dl'd that network app since you cant do the dialer shortcut anymore.
Looks like it doesnt like the .3 update cuz it knocked my 3g out completely. could only use 4g and some other weird network related stuff.

the app doesnt work like the dialer did as in force closing and making the change. just force closes and you have to completely go back in.

Well before I did the battery pull my battery usage seems to have flattened back out.

Only dropped 2% in the last hour vs 50% in the first 3 hours. All with basically no usage.

The only thing I really changed was the gtalk settings and Sprint Zone settings. It's my understanding that gtalk doesn't auto sign in on boot but only when you run the app, so I'm not sure that mattered.

I'm still keeping an eye on it.

.

Darn...iheartradio isn't working as it used to. I think you're right....no more wireless network streaming. Maybe and update to the app will have it iron out the compatibility with 2.2.

It did the same thing to me. And now I can't figure out what to do to get 3G back. 4G is working fine.

Well, I take that back. 3G is back up and running now. I have been pushing some settings, but I don't really known which one did the trick.

Yay for me. I'm not sure from where the battery drain issue is coming, because I don't see it on my phone. Maybe it has to do with Google Talk being automatically re-enabled. And installing apps is DEFINITELY much faster. In Eclair, the phone would tend to hang after downloading finished. That is completely gone in Froyo. The only problem I'm having now is that some apps that didn't open automatically in Eclair are doing so now in Froyo (Quick App Cache Cleaner, Issuu, the MediaFly apps, the built-in News RSS Reader, the new News and Weather app). Do these have to do with an update issue within each app or is there something getting lost in the communication between the apps and the OS?

You are correct about iheartRadio. It doesn't work on 3G for me, either. To tell you the truth, Clear Channel has been WAY behind the curve when it comes to the Android app. While BB and iPhone are on 2.3 and have many more stations, Android is stuck on 2.2.2 (eg.: iPhone has WBZT 1230 West Palm Beach, Android does not). I will definitely fire off an angry tweet to @iheartradio about their non-response to Android. Wunder Radio, however, does work over 3G.
