Dead Pixels

Wow!! This is absolutely terrible, especially coming from HTC... the manufacturer I pride most for build quality.

I am shocked. :(

Man I would be on the phone with Verizon and request to speak a higher up to see what could be done about this? Atleast worth a shot.

wow man, sucks to hear your having all this trouble.. I'd be pretty adamant about them swapping your phone for one that is in perfect condition if I was you(without being rude of course).

How did dust get under the screen in the first place.. ahhh :/

Well they went through 5 I didnt want to keep pushing it. He ended up being really cool about it. I was like can we just try one more man? He said if he didnt think he would get in trouble for it he would but to hold out for another shipment or try another best buy. I unfortunately have work until monday so I am going to drive up to one about 30 minutes away and do an exchange there, hopefully no problems. I love the phone like it's awesome, but these problems should not be there, I can understand 1 or 2 out of a batch of 30 but ALL 5 with problems? :(

You think I should give it a shot? What would I have to gain from it though? Like what can they do? ALL I want is a T-Bolt with no dust, dead pixels or screen leakage! Is that too much to ask for? LOL :( ugh I have horrible luck I swear haha.

That is my point maybe tell them severity of problems with your purchase, could come better on a deal with them. Again worth a shot, what's the least they can say no!!!

does anyone know if there is ANY way at all to get the spec of dust out? I mean if I can get it out and no more gets underneath problem solved, theres no dead pixels or screen leakage on this one.. Ugh lol

I think your best bet for immediate action is to hit that other BestBuy up. They will probably give you another "5" attempts at a good one. Be super nice, and just look really sad and disappointed. If the piece of dust really is as big as you say, the customer service person will be totally on board with getting you a good one.

I hope you get this solved! Good luck! It's kind of miserable looking through the forum and seeing all these problems after we all waited so long :/

You could wait for the iFix-it tear down of the phone. Which would reveal if the LCD is permanently attached to the glass face. If it is, then the dust is probably stuck in that glue between them. If it is not then it could easily be cleaned out (with the risk of adding more dust). Not to mention that phone tear downs can be quite difficult, and void your warrantee :(

Ya, I wont do that. I think I'll just try to stay patient and go on my day off to the one about 30 mins away and do an exchange there, hopefully they dont have a bad batch. Is there any such thing as a bad batch though? lol.. I swear my luck sometimes.. haha

Ya the piece of dust is pretty good size, like a small eye lash almost, I am headed to work in a few but I'll try to post a pic tonight. Hopefully the next best buy I go to on my day off Mon will actually have T-Bolts with NO problems.. (or is that asking for too much from HTC? lol) UGH I am SOOO frustrated, yay me.

Should have just stuck with the light leak problem. ;) My TB, knock on wood, has been absolutely rock solid. No light leak, no dim buttons, no dust.

ok guys, I love my phone but I have a question. Does anyone else have pinkish tint on the screen. I mean it seems like it is there 80% of the time. When I launch google market it goes away, but in the browser anything white seems to have a pink tint to it.

I added a line and got it from best buy but then I switched my number on the phone with my primary number. Do you guys think I should exchange it. It bothers me but only a little, but I dont want it to get worse.

The sim is attached to my number, all I would have to do is exchange the phone that is on the receipt and throw the current sim in it.

Ya had I only known I would have. This spec of dust is BEYOND anoying, like its pretty good size and you see it all the time no matter what.. UGH anyways, off to work, hopefully I can get my mind off of it.. Cant wait to hopefully FINALLY get a problem free t-bolt.. BTW I may call htc or verizon about this later tonight or tomorrow.. This is bs imo.

sorry to hear the bad news. the manufacturing plant must be well below our acceptable standards for cleanliness.

good luck at the other Best Buy. if that doesn't work, I would return the phone &, if you still have the heart for it, try buying the phone directly from Verizon if possible. They will probably open the box and make sure you're satisfied before you walk out the door.

Ya, I really dont get what is so hard about making a phone without any problems especially when this stuff should not be issues to begin with. I can understand a dead pixel here or there but the dust, screen leakage is bs. It's beyond anoying that I have had to go through 5 T-Bolts and still not have one without problems. 3 of the 5 were dust under the screen, thats pretty bad.. I went to best buy after work to check up since I became cool with a few of them and they said they opened 2 more after I left all of which had problems (dust under the screen mainly) Needless to say there was a few people who work there that were intending to buy one but are scared off now, say they wouldnt settle for these issues either.

I love the T-Bolt, dont mind the battery life or anything else with the phone. I just want one with no light leakage, dust under the screen, or dead pixels. Is this so hard to ask for? LOL. I got work all day the next couple days so wont be able to hit up another best buy to try to FINALLY get lucky.. But hopefully on Monday it all works out for the best.. If I go through a few more again looks like I am going to settle for the iphone.. :( I am strongly considering calling best buy, verizon corporate, to speak to someone of importance and see if they can do something about this, free phone, gift card.. Wishful thinking maybe but mehhh

i'm confident you'll find your Thunderbolt.

personally, i'd rather use a busted Droid than a new iPhone any day. that's me, though.

LOL, ya i really just want one with NO problems. But if it isnt meant to be than :( My bro works at the same best buy I have been having the problems at and he said I am the only person to buy one so far, but out of the 7 every one of them have had problems (they went through 2 others tonight) I was like jeez they should just go through some more than until we find a problem free one lol. IMO none of them should be sold with these problems, need to be returned.. Ah well we shall see.

His best friend is the assistant GM at the closest best buy outside of the one I go to (around 30 minutes away) and he said he would try to make sure they hook me up with a good one when I go there Monday so hopefully it all works out. Ugh lol.

Post a pic...maybe we all have dust.

Ok, let me grab my digital camera, I'll try to get it up in 10 or 20 minutes (btw its easily noticeable IMO. I along with the best buy guys were noticing it easily on the ones that had a dust issue) Its not as easy to see on a dark screen due to it blending in but when your browsing the net, or texting and its on a white screen it easily noticeable.

So far my digital camera is not taking a good picture (its an older 5 mp camera, not the greatest, gonna mess around with it a little more but ugh lol.

Pretty much what dust under the screen looks like is a small little eye lash pretty little but definitely noticeable when you look at the screen (especially on a white screen you will know if you have any..) I along with 2 of the guys who work there spotted it within a second or two every time with the ones that had dust under the screen. My biggest problem with it is that its so easily noticeable plus it concerns me that more dust will eventually show up.
