Dead Pixels

Ok, let me grab my digital camera, I'll try to get it up in 10 or 20 minutes (btw its easily noticeable IMO. I along with the best buy guys were noticing it easily on the ones that had a dust issue) Its not as easy to see on a dark screen due to it blending in but when your browsing the net, or texting and its on a white screen it easily noticeable.
Wow this phone driving me nuts I have dim lights and if I look hard enough I see a little light leakage but I think Im going to just hurry and get a case instead of returning it because I would go nuts if I went through that. I checked my son's Dinc and his also has slight light leakage so I guess that's how HTC is making the phones *sigh* what a nice phone with all these probs, i just hope dust cannot get through the parts where I can see the light..this is so sad IMO

Ya, honestly I am starting to think I should have just dealt with the light leakage, but I had no idea there would be such a problem with dust being under the screen lol :(

It sucks because it is always one thing or another so far, lol neither really have had more than one of the three issues. Of the 5 ONLY 1 had light leakage, alot actually (the one I have now has a tiny bit of leakage but not enough to bother me) The second one had no leakage but a big ol dead pixel in the very center of the screen, however had NO dust under the screen. WTF? haha

All of the other ones have had atleast one piece of dust under the screen, one had 2 or 3 lol... I have been reading up and have found this is not a new problem with HTC and often more dust eventually shows up :(

On the bright side I only had to make 3 trips so far (since the second time we checked them all there) But it is still messed up and should not have happened.

I LOVE the phone so am going to try to hang in there and hope I luck out Monday at another best buy.. Hopefully I can get one without NONE of the 3 problems, but as long as there is no dead pixels or dust under the screen I guess I can deal with a little light leakage ugh @ HTC..

BTW as for yours having dim lights, ya every one we checked there had it on the menu button and a couple others, which we didnt think was rite.. Sigh. FYI I know all of these issues have scared off those at best buy who were strongly considering getting one.

Thank you so much for sharing your story, and your right I think I'm going to keep the little light leakage just get a case for it, was just afraid dust might get through somehow, but to be honest I never even noticed it until the thread bought it to my attention. Good Luck on Monday:) here id a pic with dim menu keys etc but you cant see the light leekage unless I angle it so im going to deal with it.

No problem, it helps me vent a little haha and YEP thats EXACTLY how all of the bottom screens I have seen look. But ya, definitely just accept the light leakage and save yourself the bs I have had to deal with. I am hoping getting a case will take care of the problem. Also ya thats what I have been worried about too dust getting under the screen due to the light leakage. Anywhooo, as long as I can get one thats dust free, no dead pixels I will just deal with the light leakage if its there I guess. It's just really a shame that there has to be these problems with what is other wise an AWESOME phone. I have had a few different droids and an iphone in the past and never had any of these issues, maybe it's just an HTC quality control problem? :(

here is another pic I had to angle it for it to show...scared to take it back to BB

Ya, thats normal on all of the ones I have seen :( Plus underneath the buttons on the first one really bad.

Sounds like the EVO problems re lived and its complete BS, I went through 7-8 EVO's since its launch same issues light leakage and dead pixels, HTC really needs to step it up, I know this is gonna upset some peeps in here but oh well, since the Thunderbolt kept getting delayed I thought I would try the iPhone out and I must say the the hardware is topnotch, the materials used and fit and finish are awesome and I really think HTC needs to take more pride in their product, I returned the iPhone and got my Thunderbolt today and I have the light leak issue and I'm gonna just deal with it because I've been through what the OP has been through.

yea Im going to deal with mine because I don't really have light leakage underneath and Im hearing that it will probably only get worse if I return it, once I put a case on it I will feel better, its just sad that we spend all this money and can't get a device to satisfaction.

Ya I gave the iphone a shot while waiting on the T-Bolt and hardware wise it was AMAZING. ZERO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER.. My only complaint is the screen is too small imo. I LOVE the 4.3 inch screen, I have alot more room to text and overall I just prefer a bigger phone, its alot more comfortable in my hands. If only apple made a 4.3 inch iphone :( If I cant get a good T-bolt in another 2-3 tries I may just go back to an iphone so I dont have to worry about the hardware. HTC is HORRIBLE for these issues imo. The fact that you had to go through 7-8 Evos, I had to go through 5 (plus they checked a couple others from what they claim and also had dust, dead pixel problems) Its uncalled for on HTC's part. How can Apple and Motorola make products with very little to no issues concerning dead pixels, dust or light leakage yet HTC releases a ton of new phones with these issues?

i have light leakage now i have a dead pixel at the bottom of my screen i just noticed its really tiny but bothering me. anyone have a hard time at best buy exchanging? i know the one in my area are a bunch of idiots that dont kno crap :(

I have a stuck white pixel on mine, on the right side around the bottom of the notification bar area... I REALLY hate stuck pixels and they stick out like a sore thumb to me, but this one is in a fairly inconspicuous place, and reading these horror stories makes me think getting one in any better shape might be an issue..! (what's annoying is I looked really good at the store closely at the screen and didn't notice it til later in the day after I got home)

I have noticed some light leakage by the menu buttons and such too, but no dust... and the stuck pixel doesn't really distract except in certain circumstances...

I guess since I have to go into it assuming the phone is kind of a "temporary" thing (i.e., it's not like a game console or the like that I might own and use "forever") I'm kind of willing to accept the pixel....

Welcome to HTC. Ive had these types of issues with them since the Touch Pro. Yet, I keep buying their phones. Go figure.

You guys with STUCK OR HOT PIXELS can try jscreenfix in the market. Will not work for dead pixels (black dot on a white screen) but has a pretty good repair rate for stuck or hot pixels. It says to run for 10 minutes but if this doesn't work try for a few hours to overnight plugged in. Let us know if it works :)

I have that too and, IMHO, it is not an issue if you are looking directly at the screen at all. You can see the leak only if you are looking down at an unnatural angle. If you returned your phone because of this I don't think any replacement will be satisfactory.

I have a dead pixel right in the center of my screen. Didn't notice it immediately as the pixels are very dense and tiny. Only noticed it when I was close to the phone and he screen was black in a large area. That's a defect, albeit small and still probably not near enough to ruin reasonable phone usage (but I had a battery issue too and figured perhaps this phone is best being replaced.) I'll bet most won't notice a dead pixel for a long time unless there is another nearby.

I have a few specs of dust but no dead pixels. Dead pixels would bug the heck out of me, but the dust isnt a problem.
