ARCHIVED: [DEAD ROM] nROM v1.6.3

Last Q. I am running thunderom and my SW version ends in V9 so am I good to go without worrying about radio, etc.?

Yeah you're fine, but hold up on flashing, I just confirmed that wifi is broken. Us developers make mistakes too!

Wait for v1.5.1

WiFi is broken for me as well, glad to hear there's a 1.5.1 coming soon. Also though, it seems like the accelerometer is totally broken/disabled. Anyone else experiencing this? The game "Labyrinth 3d" no longer works at all, likewise Google Sky Map and even Gallery 3d no longer show any tilt sensing. Any ideas?

FYI, I'm still running the V9 radio. I've cleared cache/data along with Dalvik before flashing from Lego. Since tried rebooting several times along with another cache/dalvik wipe. Still no luck.

On a side note, any ideas what to do for Voicemail? Unless I'm missing something, the default Voicemail app is gone in this ROM? Can't seem to find it on the Market Place at all, and for some reason my Titanium Backup of Voicemail isn't restoring properly. The default Calc app isn't restoring either, and would be really nice to have that one back too. The Scientific one included is far too "busy" an interface for the times I need a calculator (along with the number buttons being quite small). I'm sure there's probably another Calc alternative I could track down in the market, but the default was perfect for me.

The voicemail is the bigger issue though. The dialer app now crashes immediately if you click on the voicemail button in the lower left. I'm assuming that's due to the missing voicemail?

Sorry, two more things:

-Immediately after flashing (wiping data/cache and Dalvik) upon first boot, I had 146MB free for apps, not ~160 as the first post says. Might want to update that?

-Any way to remap the voice search key to actually be voice input? I use long press on the front search button for the Quick Settings app.

Thanks.

That's 160mb of space to install applications, I include some applications in my ROM that take up space. Uninstall them to get 160mb of space.

I completely removed voice search because I never used it, but I can post up a flashable zip to restore it.

And I'm working on a fix for the accelerometer as well, wifi is already fixed. Just used v1.4.5 for now.

Sorry, I realized that (about your included apps taking up the space) about 5 seconds after posting that... ugh.

If you could make flashable zips though for the Calc and voicemail app though, that would be wonderful.

Last question: Is it okay to flash one of the theme zips from the Lego thread (particularly the TR one) overtop? Thanks.

Yeah you can flash any theme on top of nROM. Revert to v1.4.5 for now. I'll fix this later today, I REALLY need a nap. I'll post the visual voice mail app on the OP just install it as a normal application.

Hey Nick.
Is NROM still designed for the v9 baseband? Or do you expect to have a VC version soon? Thanks.

Uhh I'm currently rebuilding everything on VC. There was no way to just port over my old build to the new software. Soo thanks LG. But yeah There next update (v1.5.1) is going to be based entirely off of VC.

Alright guys, I'm really proud of this next release :) It is running hecka smooth and I have found absolutely no bugs. I fixed a ton of stuff and rebuilt my whole ROM from a VC base. No porting, no dragging and dropping files, everything is fresh and built from scratch.

**Also I fixed the lock screen bug! No more reboots!**

Look for nROM v1.5.1 on my website and as always, enjoy!

P.S. I highly suggest opening Spare Parts and setting "Window animations" to "off" and "Transition animations" to "fast."

Hi and thanks for the new update!
So does this version of nROM have the fixes that came with the latest update for the phone? Also is V9 the version just right before the latest update? Sorry I don't know a lot about this V8, V9, VC thing. Thanks.

Yep, all the good stuff of VC, none of the trouble! And It goes: V8 -> V9 -> VC.

Initially got a FC on google.partnersetup on first boot, but I went to recovery and wiped data/factory and re-flashed and it went away.

One thing I noticed in nROM is that adb is no longer defaulted to root.

Good work as usual! (Did go back to the ROM I'm working on as I had some issues with it last night, but a full wipe fixed them, now to customize it.)

Fantastic, thanks Nick. One question though. After flashing 1.5.1, should I install the OTA update?

The instructions say not to wipe data...Right now I'm running ThunderRom and I'm going to try this out, do I need to wipe data if using another ROM?

No! Please don't flash the OTA update lol And wiping is optional.

DLing now, will edit when up and running. Using VC *fingers crossed*

EDIT: Flashed over VCRom 007, works great. Didn't have to wipe anything. Quick and responsive. Love the rom.

Wow long time user of Thunderom and now just moved to Nrom 1.5.1.. and its amazing and fast! Good work and no bugs and the random crashes/reboots i had with Thunderrom is gone. It feels more responsive as well and I love the voice command button bringing up the phone dialer. Its the first time I used the voice command button since i got my phone.

Wifi works great too

Hey Nick, is this new version still compatible with the old themes based on the v9 framework? I really like the black themes with the circle battery mod. (But it's sad that I couldn't keep the stock 3G/1X icons and the signal strength icons - more verbose since it shows more bars... lol :D)
